  • Free update coming soon to all platforms.
  • Part of upcoming Content Pass with additional features.

Gun Interactive, the developers behind The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game, have announced an exciting new addition to their horror survival title.

The upcoming free game mode, dubbed “Rush Week,” promises to deliver a fresh and thrilling experience for players across all platforms.

Rush Week: A New Dimension of Terror

The new mode centres around Johnny ‘Pretty Boy’ Slaughter, one of the game’s iconic villains. Rush Week will pit one player, controlling Johnny, against six others in an intense 1v6 matchup.

This asymmetrical format aims to offer “a whole new way to experience” the game, potentially shaking up the existing gameplay dynamics.

A teaser trailer released by the developers (Which you can view below) gives players a glimpse of what to expect.

The footage shows Johnny menacingly lurking outside what appears to be a sorority or fraternity house, suggesting a campus-themed setting for the new mode.

This change of scenery from the game’s usual rural Texas backdrop could provide an interesting twist on the franchise’s classic horror elements.

Content Pass and Additional Features

While Rush Week will be available as a free update for all players, it’s also part of a larger Content Pass scheduled for release in September. Priced at $19.99 USD or your currency equivalent, the pass promises over $45 worth of content, including:

  • A new Family Member character
  • A new Victim character
  • A new Execution Pack
  • Four new cosmetic items
  • Early access to the Rush Week game mode

This substantial content drop demonstrates Gun Interactive’s commitment to expanding and enriching The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s gameplay experience.

Availability and Current Updates

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

It was also accessible through Game Pass on Xbox and PC, but recently left the subscription service.

In addition to the upcoming Rush Week mode, the title recently received a massive patch on August 15th. This update introduced the limited-time Family House – Blood Moon variant map, which players can find in rotation as “Family House – Dawn.”

It’s worth noting that the events depicted in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game are set before Tobe Hooper’s original classic film.

The game features a mix of familiar villains from the movies like Grandpa, alongside new family members.

This free update, coupled with the upcoming Content Pass should keep horror gamers busy for the next few months.
