The gruesome slasher The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is getting its first bit of new content five weeks after launch. Developers Sumo Nottingham have balanced bug fixes and patches up until this point, but now Leatherface is being gifted with a creepy new cosmetic option – a custom skin designed by none other than horror effects icon Greg Nicotero.
What’s Included in the Cosmetic Pack

Dubbed the “Nicotero Leatherface” pack, this new look for the human-flesh-clad killer will cost £16 and launch in October. It includes the skin, a unique chainsaw with custom sounds, and a never-before-seen kill animation. Leatherface’s skills and perks stay the same, meaning this is a purely cosmetic addition.
Nicotero’s Horror Legacy
Nicotero has made a name for himself in horror thanks to his makeup and effects work on The Walking Dead. For 11 seasons he’s brought the zombie “walkers” to life, constantly dreaming up grisly new ways to depict a post-apocalyptic world overrun by the undead. His career as a monster-maker stretches back four decades though.
The cannibals mask in this new skin boasts multiple layers – and thus multiple victims – with a loose jaw area reminiscent of The Walking Dead villain Beta.

More Maps and Killers Expected in Future Updates
This marks the killers fourth alternate skin in the game. His original Killing Mask, Pretty Woman, and Old Lady looks were all seen in the 1974 slasher film. A never-before-seen appearance for an iconic horror character like Leatherface suggests the developers have creative freedom with the license. Expect more maps, killers, and makeovers in the future.
The addition of a customized skin from a leading horror effects artist shows the level of care and attention going into keeping The Texas Chain Saw Massacre feeling fresh. As the game continues to grow, bringing aboard horror veterans like Nicotero could lead to some delightfully gory and creative directions. With games like Friday the 13th receiving tons of new content over past years, this likely won’t be the last time Leatherface gets a wardrobe change.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game is out now for Windows PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
