Epic Games has rolled out the first major update for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, bringing a host of Marvel-themed content to the popular battle royale. The v31.10 update, which went live on 4th September 2024, introduces exciting new features, cosmetics, and gameplay elements that are sure to delight fans of both Fortnite and the Marvel universe.
Ultra Doom Armour
The headline addition in this update is the Ultra Doom Armor Mythic, allowing players to transform into the formidable Doctor Doom himself.
This powerful item can be obtained by activating the Cauldron of Power after capturing the new Isle of Doom floating island.
Once equipped, players gain access to four unique abilities:
- Jump High
- Arcane Blast
- Foot Dive
- Scorch Beam
These powers give players a significant advantage in combat, echoing the excitement of previous Marvel crossovers like the Thanos-themed limited-time mode from Chapter 1 Season 5.
New Points of Interest and Mythic Items
The update introduces the Isle of Doom POI, a floating island that randomly appears on the map during matches. Obviously replacing the previous floating Loot Island, it appears randomly on the in-game map, marked by a Doom icon.
This Doctor Doom-themed location adds a new strategic element to gameplay, as players vie for control of this powerful vantage point.
In addition to Doctor Doom’s abilities, players can now wield Shuri’s Claws Mythic. This Black Panther-inspired weapon allows for Pounce, Slash, and Supercharge abilities, offering a unique combat experience.
The claws use a percentage-based ammunition system, adding an extra layer of strategy to their use.
Fans of the X-Men will be pleased to see the return of Magneto’s Power Mythic to the loot pool, further expanding the Marvel presence in the game.
Players will be glad to hear that the powerful Medallions have not been tampered with and are unchanged from before the patch.
Battle Pass Enhancements and Cosmetic Additions
V31.10 brings new Super Styles for Battle Pass skins, including Cold Sorcery, Doom Forged, Pen & Ink, and Arcane Burn variants for characters like Captain Jonesy, War Machine, Emma Frost, and Shuri.
These styles are available to players who have surpassed the Level 100 tier in the Battle Pass.
Epic has also added several new skins to the Item Shop, including:
- Gummi Team Leader Outfit (with four different styles)
- Briar of the Thorn
- Nix Scarlet
For LEGO Fortnite die-hards, completing certain Doom Quests will unlock the Latverian Monarch Decor.
Quests and Storyline Progression
The update introduces new Story Quests, centring around Shuri’s Invention, which further develops this season’s narrative.
Players can also tackle new secret Gwenpool Quests, acting as a continuation of the quests available at the start of Chapter 5 Season 4.
Doctor Doom-specific quests have been added, offering players the chance to earn a reworked Doctor Doom Outfit and the Pandora’s Armour Doom skin style. Additional rewards include the Doom’s Cloak Back Bling, Fist of Doom Glider, and The Doomblade Pickaxe.
Reboot Rally and LEGO Styles
The popular Reboot Rally feature returns with a new set of rewards, including the Tekk Yellow Wrap, Tekk Pack Back Bling, and Tekk Hacker Pickaxe. These can be earned by completing activities with friends.
LEGO enthusiasts will be pleased to see more LEGO skin styles added for existing characters, as well as for the new skins introduced in this update.
As with any major update, v31.10 includes various bug fixes and performance optimisations across multiple platforms.
While specific details weren’t provided, players can expect a smoother overall experience.
And while this update brings a wealth of new content, Epic Games has already hinted at future additions.
The Absolute Doom trailer teased Iron Man’s Gauntlets and the Stark Industries Energy Rifle, suggesting these items may be introduced in upcoming updates.
The Fortnite update v31.10 is live right now, so the next time you boot up the game it should start updating automatically for you.
