Dead by Daylight players have a thrilling weekend ahead as Behaviour Interactive reintroduces the 2v8 game mode, now infused with Resident Evil’s survival horror legacy.

Alongside this, the developer is offering major incentives, including XP multipliers and Bloodpoint bonuses, making it the perfect time to jump into the fog.

The 2v8 mode, a fan-favourite asymmetric horror experience, is back for the third time, now featuring a heavy Resident Evil influence. A short 1 minute 21 second trailer was uploaded to the official YouTube channel to promote the LTM.

The biggest addition is the arrival of two iconic villains—The Nemesis and The Mastermind (Albert Wesker) who will now be playable side by side.

Their abilities, which involve infecting Survivors with the T-Virus and Uroboros, create a unique gameplay challenge.

To balance this deadly duo, unified antidotes now spawn in every Supply Crate, allowing infected Survivors to counteract both viruses with a single cure.

Additionally, Raccoon City Police Department, one of the most immersive maps in Dead by Daylight, returns to the rotation, bringing even more Resident Evil horror into the mix.

Big Weekend Bonuses for Players

In response to community concerns regarding matchmaking, Behaviour Interactive has introduced significant bonuses to encourage more balanced queue times. Available for a limited time:

  • Triple XP for all players across all roles and modes.
  • +400% Bloodpoint bonus for Survivors, encouraging players to take on the often less-popular role.
  • Reduction of Survivor bots in 2v8 to a maximum of one per match to improve game balance.

These bonuses are only available until the end of the weekend, making now the perfect time to farm XP and Bloodpoints.

Matchmaking Updates and Future Testing

Despite the initial reintroduction of Survivor bots to reduce queue times, their impact was minimal, cutting wait times by only three minutes.

In response, starting Monday, February 17th, Behaviour Interactive will disable all bots in 2v8 for two days to gather comparative data.

This test will determine whether full-human lobbies improve the gameplay experience and balance matchmaking.

Players are encouraged to provide feedback on this change, as it could influence future implementations of the 2v8 mode. Last year there were UI changes that the community wasn’t happy about, yet the devs acted quickly to iron things out and keep their fan-base satisfied.

New Additions: Herbs and Resident Evil Cosmetics

For the first time in Dead by Daylight, the Resident Evil healing system has been integrated into the game mode.

  • Green Herbs will heal one health state.
  • Yellow Herbs will heal one hook state, giving Survivors a chance to escape a dire situation.
  • Killers can destroy herbs for a temporary movement speed buff, adding an extra layer of strategy.

Additionally, new cosmetics inspired by the Resident Evil franchise are now available, featuring fresh outfits for Nemesis, Wesker, Ada Wong, Leon S. Kennedy, Rebecca Chambers, and Jill Valentine.

How to Play the Limited-Time 2v8 Mode

This event allows players to test out all Resident Evil characters for free, though Prestige progress will be locked unless the character is owned.

The gameplay also incorporates a new Class System, replacing traditional Perks and Powers with distinct class-based mechanics tailored for 2v8.

With the return of 2v8 mode, enhanced by the Resident Evil crossover, Dead by Daylight is offering a uniquely terrifying multiplayer experience.

The combination of new gameplay mechanics, generous bonuses, and legendary horror characters makes this an unmissable event for both veterans and newcomers. Whether you’re a Killer or a Survivor, now is the best time to step into The Fog.

Dead by Daylight’s Resident Evil event is live across all platforms, dive in before the bonuses disappear!
