Key Highlights:
- Haunted by Daylight returns from 13 October to 3 November, but the separate Void Realm has been removed.
- Void Rifts now become Portals that teleport players around the normal Trial map instead.
- October also brings Jason Voorhees’ first Blighted outfit and a six-outfit Diablo crossover led by Lilith.
Starting this month, Dead by Daylight is changing one of its biggest Halloween mechanics, with Haunted by Daylight returning on 13 October without the separate Void Realm that has defined recent versions of the event.
The three-week event runs through 3 November and replaces trips into the Void with a more direct system built into normal Trials. Void Rifts will still appear, but opening one turns it into a Void Portal that can teleport players between different parts of the map.
That is a substantial departure from the previous three years.
The Void Realm first became a major part of Haunted by Daylight in 2023, when Behaviour’s official Haunted by Daylight recap introduced it as a separate location occupied by Haunts and accessed through Portals. It remained a major part of the 2024 and 2025 events before being removed from the playable Halloween space this year.
I think removing the separate Void Realm is the most interesting gameplay change in this year’s event. The Portal mechanic survives, but repositioning now happens directly across the Trial rather than temporarily pulling players away into another area, which should make it much harder to treat the Halloween mechanics as something separate from the chase itself.
Behaviour is also moving back towards a more traditional Halloween look. The Entity’s Realm will take on an orange haze, with Pumpkins, Rifts and other environmental elements receiving a seasonal makeover rather than leaning as heavily on the colder blue appearance associated with the Void.
Playing through the event will unlock another batch of free cosmetics. Shane Wiigwaas and The Hillbilly receive earnable Tricks and Treats Outfits, while Sable Ward and Jeff Johansen get Survivor shirts. New Killer masks are also available for The Singularity, The Unknown and The Trapper.
Before Haunted by Daylight even begins, one of the game’s longest-running Halloween traditions has already returned.
The Hallowed Blight Collection became available on 1 October with new outfits for The Houndmaster, The Knight and Jason Voorhees, giving the Friday the 13th icon his first Blighted appearance since he joined Dead by Daylight in June.
The collection dates back to Dead by Daylight’s 2018 Halloween era and revolves around the grotesque effects of the glowing Putrid Serum. Jason’s new version pushes that idea into one of his more extreme designs, adding the same orange growths and mutations that have spread across other Killers over the years.
Then Hell arrives.
The Diablo Collection launches on 20 October with six crossover outfits split between Killers and Survivors.
Lilith becomes a Visceral Outfit for The Artist, complete with unique menu animations and a new Mori. Belial transforms The Dredge into the six-faced Lord of Lies, while Mephisto appears through The Nurse. All three higher-tier Killer outfits also include new voice lines performed by their Diablo actors Caroline Faber, Ray Porter and Steve Blum.
Survivors represent Diablo IV’s playable classes instead. Zarina Kassir becomes the Sorceress, David King takes on the Barbarian look and Taurie Cain receives a Necromancer-inspired outfit.
The collaboration itself is not completely new information. Behaviour first teased the Diablo crossover during Dead by Daylight’s 10th anniversary reveal in June, but at the time it only confirmed that demonic cosmetics were coming in October. The individual characters, voice performances and exact release date were still unknown.
Lilith is easily the standout because Behaviour has gone beyond dressing The Artist in Diablo armour. The custom animations, voice work and exclusive Mori give the outfit a much stronger character identity than an ordinary cosmetic swap.
October is busier than the three headline additions suggest.
The Academia Rift begins on 6 October, while Behaviour’s wider October schedule also places its Halloween Sale on 19 October, a new Public Test Build on 27 October and Twitch Rivals alongside the November Days Collection on 30 October. The sale discounts have not yet been detailed.
There is one point worth treating cautiously in that schedule. Terrifier’s Art the Clown is still due as Dead by Daylight’s November Killer and Behaviour has confirmed that the Chapter will receive a PTB, but the October roadmap itself reportedly labels the 27 October slot simply as “PTB”. Until Behaviour explicitly connects that date to Terrifier, I would not treat “Art is playable on 27 October” as completely settled.
That restraint does not make October particularly quiet.
The October of Horror schedule also spills into early November with another Stranger Things crossover. A new Lights Out: Stranger Things event begins on 5 November alongside fresh Stranger Things cosmetics, extending the Upside Down theme beyond January’s Stranger Things Chapter 2 release with another limited-time return to Hawkins-inspired horror.
Between a redesigned Haunted by Daylight event, Jason’s first Blighted transformation and Diablo bringing three of Sanctuary’s most recognisable demons into The Fog, Behaviour has spread its Halloween content across most of the month rather than dropping everything on one update day.
