Behaviour Interactive used Dead by Daylight’s 10th anniversary celebration to outline its plans for the coming years, unveiling new chapters, additional game modes and a large-scale visual overhaul aimed at modernising the decade-old horror title. The developers streamed a live stream on YouTube showcasing all the new content, and you can view that below:
The next addition arrives on 16 June with Jason Voorhees joining the roster as a killer. Shortly afterwards, on 25 June, Behaviour will release The Life Road chapter, introducing Shane Wiigwaas as the game’s first Indigenous survivor. A lawyer from the Anishinaabe community, Shane enters The Fog while investigating the wrongful conviction of his cousins following a mysterious disappearance.
Beyond June, Behaviour confirmed that the community-created Chorus of Sin chapter will launch in August, while Art the Clown from Terrifier is set to arrive in November. Looking further ahead, a chapter based on The Casting of Frank Stone is scheduled for 2027.
Original content is also expanding with a new realm centred around a shopping mall. Drawing inspiration from liminal horror, the location aims to explore the stories of some of Dead by Daylight’s earliest survivors, including Dwight. The map is expected to arrive in December.
One of the biggest announcements involved the game’s future presentation. Rather than developing a sequel, Behaviour plans to continue evolving the current title with a major visual update in 2027. Character models are being rebuilt with improved animation systems, more expressive facial movements and additional voice lines for original survivors and killers.
Environmental improvements are also planned. Maps will receive upgraded textures, lighting and atmospheric effects, while dynamic weather systems will introduce conditions such as rainstorms and heavy downpours to make matches feel more unpredictable.
Behaviour also revealed that official modding support is being developed. Players will eventually gain access to tools that allow them to create and share custom maps and experiences, opening the door to community-driven content.
New ways to play are being explored as well. A competitive one-versus-one mode is in early development, while a separate zombie mode will challenge survivors to search for a cure while avoiding both the infected and an active killer.
Outside gameplay additions, Dead by Daylight’s catalogue of collaborations continues to grow. Upcoming cosmetics and crossover content include Ice Nine Kills, Diablo IV, Silent Hill and Scooby-Doo. The Walking Dead partnership is also expanding with new Legendary outfits planned for Glenn and Negan.
As additional information, Behaviour provided an update on the Dead by Daylight film adaptation. The screenplay has been completed, with Thordur Palsson attached to direct the project. Production is currently expected to begin in 2027, with iconic locations such as MacMillan Estate and Greenville set to appear.
Behaviour also reiterated that Dead by Daylight 2 is not in development, choosing instead to invest in long-term improvements designed to keep the existing game evolving well into the future.
