Behaviour Interactive has released the Terrifier Public Test Build (PTB) for Dead by Daylight on Steam, allowing players to try Art the Clown as a new Killer and Sienna Shaw as a Survivor ahead of the chapter’s 24 November 2026 launch. The PTB went live on 28 October, one day after the 27 October test slot shown in Behaviour’s October roadmap.

Steam players who own Dead by Daylight can join by right-clicking the game in their library, opening Properties, selecting Betas and choosing Public Test Build. Behaviour’s official PTB instructions explain that the test uses an older account snapshot; normal progress returns when switching back.

Art’s Bag of Toys Power is more involved than simply producing a random weapon. The Killer chooses between two randomly offered toys, then waits for the bag’s cooldown before opening it again. Each toy can be used once, with possible selections including a flail, handgun, flamethrower, acid bottle and bike horn.

The flail can hit over certain obstacles, the flamethrower affects pallets, windows and generators, and the horn can reveal Survivors. Hitting an injured Survivor with a damaging toy applies Torture; using a different toy can then knock them down. Repeatedly applying Torture increases a weapon’s Deadliness, eventually allowing it to down injured Survivors directly.

Art also receives a separate Mini-Mori for each weapon and a Taunt action, which can increase the Deadliness of his toys when used on a hooked or downed Terrified Survivor. Behaviour explains these conditions in its Terrifier PTB patch notes.

His three Killer perks add different effects. Funny Business grants 10% Haste after damaging a generator but can also stun Art himself for two seconds as one of its random outcomes. Kill Spree allows executions once all remaining Survivors have reached two Hook States and all generators are completed. Laughingstock applies Exhausted and Oblivious to Survivors near completed generators.

Sienna’s abilities focus on using resources and protecting teammates. Best Gift Ever consumes one dropped item of each type for a corresponding benefit. Shared Trauma lets nearby Survivors recover from Exhausted while running after she takes a protection hit, while Valkyrie’s Rage extends a pallet stun by 75% after a sufficiently long chase.

I think the choice between two single-use weapons is Art’s most interesting mechanic. The flail, flamethrower and horn all serve different purposes, making weapon selection important during a chase.

The update also introduces Hartshorne Mall, an original map in the new Subdivisions realm. Its deserted corridors contain clues about Dwight Fairfield’s childhood encounter with The Entity.

The location was first revealed during Dead by Daylight’s 10th-anniversary announcements in June, when Behaviour outlined plans for a shopping-mall realm expected to arrive in December. With Hartshorne Mall now playable in October’s PTB, the location is arriving earlier than originally anticipated.

Under Behaviour’s usual chapter rules, new maps remain free for all players, even when the associated characters are sold as DLC.

The PTB also adds gore settings, including reduced violence in death sequences and an option to change blood to green. These can make Art’s finishing animations less graphic.

The chapter’s 24 November launch also coincides with the date Chucky leaves Dead by Daylight stores. Existing Chucky owners keep access, while Art and Sienna join the roster on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

For now, the new characters and Hartshorne Mall remain part of the Steam test build, and their gameplay may change before the full release.
