The show will run for over 40 minutes, longer than the average runtime for most State of Plays, and is expected to focus entirely on PlayStation 5 games.

Content creators and co-streamers should be aware that the stream may include copyrighted music not controlled by PlayStation.

This could result in muted segments or blocked VODs. Creators planning to upload recaps or repost clips are encouraged to exclude any music segments to ensure uninterrupted uploads.

What to Expect from June 4’s State of Play

PlayStation has confirmed that this State of Play will spotlight a curated selection of games from studios around the world, focusing on upcoming PS5 titles.

While first-party involvement hasn’t been officially detailed, several projects are well-positioned to appear.

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei, the anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, is slated for release on October 2nd, 2025.

With gameplay previously teased, it’s a prime candidate for an extended showing.

Bungie’s Marathon, set for September, is another strong contender, while Housemarque’s SarosNaughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac remain possible inclusions, depending on Sony’s reveal strategy.

On the third-party front, delayed titles like Lost Soul Aside and Ballad of Antara are expected to resurface, potentially with new trailers or release windows.

There’s always usually a surprise in these events somewhere too, so a game that we haven’t mentioned yet like say, the new James Bond game First Light, could be revealed. I’d be shocked if there wasn’t at least one title that caught gamers unawares, but time will tell.

The showcase may also serve as a stage for newly signed console exclusives, aligning with PlayStation’s focus on global partnerships.

For context, the previous major State of Play included announcements for The Midnight WalkHell is UsOnimusha: Way of the Sword, and Borderlands 4.

With Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase following closely, this State of Play sets the tone for Sony’s positioning ahead of the 2025 holiday season.
