Set in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka during the 1960s, Silent Hill f follows Shimizu Hinako, a schoolgirl whose world descends into fog-drenched chaos. Players will explore a warped vision of Japan, where supernatural events are triggered by deeply personal trauma.

As Hinako, players must solve psychologically driven puzzles and fight off grotesque enemies using a brutal, melee-focused combat system more intense than the series’ previous entry, Silent Hill 2 Remake.

The game’s mission statement – “Find the beauty in terror” – permeates every design element. From decaying scarecrow effigies to haunting fields of crimson blossoms, Silent Hill f merges aesthetic elegance with visceral discomfort.

Artist kera’s monster designs inject a uniquely Japanese horror sensibility, while the score, composed by Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, reinforces the tonal duality of serenity and dread. Scripted by acclaimed horror writer Ryukishi07, the narrative invites players to shape Hinako’s fate through key decisions.

These moments offer moral ambiguity: should she cling to composure and elegance, or surrender to the madness threatening to consume her?

The tension between grace and decay is not only thematic but mechanical, influencing the psychological tone of puzzles and character interactions.

From the outset, the game’s visual identity leans into the abnormal.

Figures resembling mannequins stalk Hinako in a misty field, jerky and unnatural in movement.

Other sequences include a character being incinerated alive in a cage, gore-laced imagery involving organs served on platters, and flowers blooming grotesquely from human bodies. Despite this disturbing palette, Konami ensures the experience is rooted in emotional resonance, not shock value alone.

Multiple Editions and Enhanced Performance

Silent Hill f will be available in both Standard and Deluxe Editions. All pre-orders grant access to additional items, including:

EditionFormatBonus Content
Standard EditionPhysical/DigitalWhite Sailor School Uniform, Omamori: Peony, Item Pack
Deluxe EditionDigital only48-hour Early Access, Digital Artbook, Digital Soundtrack, Pink Rabbit Costume, full Item Pack

The Deluxe Edition is download-only and includes a range of exclusive digital collectibles and early access beginning 23 September.

On PS5 Pro, an Enhanced Graphics Mode offers improved resolution and stable frame rates, allowing players to experience fluid, stylised combat in crisp 4K clarity.

While Silent Hill f is a self-contained story and a fresh entry point for newcomers, longtime fans will find scattered Easter eggs tying it to the broader mythos.

It’s also notable as the first Japan-set Silent Hill game to receive a mature rating, with explicit warnings for body horror, torture, and graphic violence. For fans of Ryukishi07’s work, or those drawn to atmospheric horror with emotional depth, Silent Hill f represents a bold new direction. It doesn’t just ask players to survive, it demands they understand the horror within.
