Key Highlights:

  • Silent Hill f launches September 25 on PS5Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • File size on PS5 confirmed at 36.637 GB.
  • Pre-load begins September 21 for Deluxe Edition and September 23 for Standard Edition.

Silent Hill f is just weeks away, and we now have the official details on its file size and pre-load windows. For PlayStation 5 owners, the game will require 36.637 GB of free space, which is notably compact compared to many modern AAA titles. You can expect the same specs for Xbox, but a little more for PC users.

The Deluxe Edition pre-load opens on September 21st, granting early access on the 23rd, while Standard Edition players can begin downloading on September 23rd ahead of the September 25th launch.

Compared to recent heavyweights, Silent Hill f looks surprisingly lean. Ghost of Yotei clocks in at around 85 GB, while Street Fighter 6 is between 50-60GB. Even the Silent Hill 2 Remake demanded 50.5 GB on PS5.

The details were shared via X/Twitter by PlayStation Game Sizes, and you can view the exact tweet below:

This smaller footprint may suggest tighter optimisation and a more focused design. From my experience covering file sizes across major releases, when a game lands under 40 GB, it usually means fewer redundant assets, which in turn can mean quicker patch rollouts and smoother performance on day one.

The setting itself is another big departure. Moving away from Silent Hill’s usual fog-covered American roots, this entry takes players to Ebisugaoka, a fictional Japanese town set in the 1960s.

Players step into the shoes of Hinako Shimizu, navigating a story that blends psychological horror with more action-oriented combat. Producer Motoi Okamoto has already hinted that combat will lean harder into melee encounters, with some early impressions likening it to a light soulslike structure.

For long-time fans, the smaller file size might come as a surprise, but it also reinforces the idea that Silent Hill f isn’t chasing the scale of a live-service title.

Instead, it seems built to deliver a dense, unsettling horror experience that can be completed in 12 to 13 hours. That length is actually on the higher end for the series, which could make Deluxe Edition buyers, who gain early access, the first to finish before Standard Edition players even get to step foot in Ebisugaoka.

Silent Hill f launches on September 25 for PS5Xbox Series X|S and PCDeluxe Edition owners can dive in two days earlier on September 23.
