Key Highlights:

  • PlayStation has added a free game to the PS Store that does not require PS Plus.
  • Coloring Book offers one of the easiest Platinum trophies available on PS5.
  • The game is family friendly, supports co-op, and is available to download right now.

As 2025 winds down, PlayStation has quietly dropped one last free game that feels almost designed to tempt trophy hunters over the finish line. Colouring Book is now available to download for free on the PS Store, and while it is technically a PS4 title, it runs perfectly fine on PS5.

At face value, Coloring Book does exactly what the name suggests. It is a digital colouring experience built around a wide selection of light, wholesome designs.

Players can fill in images using a palette of over 300 colours, with tools that make the process deliberately relaxing rather than precise or stressful. One of the brushes even keeps you inside the lines automatically, which tells you exactly what kind of game this is aiming to be.

I downloaded it out of curiosity more than anything, and within minutes it was obvious why it has been getting attention from completionists. The Platinum trophy is extremely straightforward and can be earned entirely within the free base game. You do not need PS Plus, and you do not need to buy any add-ons to unlock it.

Most of the trophies are earned simply by colouring. Finish a page, use a certain number of colours, stick to a single colour theme, or experiment with the basic tools. There is nothing here that demands skill, speed, or grinding. If you want one final Platinum before the year ends, this is about as low-effort as it gets.

There is a clear push towards paid content, though. The free version includes a limited selection of images, often just one from each theme, with constant prompts to visit the store for more.

Players who want everything can buy a Complete Edition, which unlocks 373 additional images, or pick up individual packs as DLC. That said, none of this is required for trophies, which is the part that actually matters to most people looking at this download.

Beyond trophies, Coloring Book also works surprisingly well as a shared experience. It supports up to four players colouring at the same time, and there is even a whiteboard-style canvas that lets players draw freely instead of filling in preset designs. If you have kids at home over the holidays, or just want something genuinely calm to mess around with, it fits that role nicely.

This is not a game that is trying to impress you with depth or mechanics. It is simple, intentional, and clearly aimed at relaxation and accessibility. As a free download, there is very little reason not to add it to your library, especially if you enjoy padding out your trophy list.

If you are looking to close out 2025 with one last easy Platinum, Coloring Book is available to download now on PS5 and PS4, no subscription required.
