Key Highlights:
- Elden Ring is getting new DLC on August 28 through the Tarnished Pack.
- The update adds new classes, weapons, armour, skins, and Torrent customisation.
- All new content will also launch alongside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2.
FromSoftware has officially confirmed that Elden Ring will receive new downloadable content on August 28, giving players across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC fresh reasons to return to the Lands Between.
The new content arrives as part of the Tarnished Pack, which launches alongside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2.
While fans may have been hoping for another major expansion following Shadow of the Erdtree, this release focuses on new gameplay and cosmetic additions rather than a large-scale story campaign.
The Tarnished Pack will introduce two new starting classes, Heavy Knight and Knight of Ides, alongside new weapons, armour sets, character skins, and additional customisation options for Torrent. Some of these additions were previously teased in trailers for the Switch 2 version of the game.
Importantly, the new content is not exclusive to Nintendo’s platform. FromSoftware has confirmed that players on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will also be able to purchase the new content separately.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will bundle together the base game, the acclaimed Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and all of the new content included in the Tarnished Pack. The package finally arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28 after a previous delay that reportedly allowed the developers additional time to optimise performance.
Players who pre-order the Switch 2 version will also receive the Ring Pose and Miquella’s Ring gestures, although these can also be obtained through co-op play with users who already own them.
Since launching in 2022, Elden Ring has become one of FromSoftware’s most successful releases, selling millions of copies worldwide and earning numerous Game of the Year awards. Its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion continued that success, receiving widespread praise and even earning Game of the Year nominations despite being downloadable content rather than a standalone release.
The Tarnished Pack may be smaller in scale than Shadow of the Erdtree, but it marks the first significant addition to the core game since the expansion’s launch and gives long-time players new ways to experience existing adventures.
Looking beyond August, FromSoftware already has several major projects connected to the Elden Ring universe. Multiplayer spin-off Elden Ring Nightreign has expanded the franchise, while an Elden Ring film adaptation is currently in development from filmmaker Alex Garland and production company A24.
The movie is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on March 3, 2028, with a cast that includes Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Kit Connor, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Offerman.
Meanwhile, FromSoftware’s next game remains The Duskbloods, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive that is expected to launch later this year.
For now, however, Elden Ring players can focus on August 28, when the Tarnished Pack brings new classes, gear, and customisation options to one of gaming’s most celebrated modern RPGs.
