Oddworld Part 3 Teased as New Video Hints at Abe’s Next Adventure

Key Highlights:

  • Oddworld Inhabitants has teased “Part 3 coming” at the end of a new video.
  • The teaser hints that Abe’s search for his mother could continue in a new game.
  • Fans remain divided over whether it refers to Abe’s next adventure or the long-planned Oddworld Quintology.

Oddworld Inhabitants has sparked fresh excitement among fans after teasing what appears to be the next chapter in the series, with a cryptic “Part 3 coming” message appearing at the end of a newly uploaded video.

The short video, published on the studio’s official YouTube channel, revisits the good ending of Oddworld: Soulstorm. In the closing moments, Abe tells fellow Mudokons Alf and Toby that his mother, Sam, is still alive and living in the Glukkon capital of Nolybab. He explains that she is the mother of every Mudokon from RuptureFarms and reveals his intention to find her and finally learn why she abandoned them and stitched his lips shut.

That scene originally marked the end of Soulstorm. However, the newly uploaded version adds one extra screen after the credits, displaying the words “Part 3 coming.” The message is brief, but it has already led to widespread discussion about what Oddworld Inhabitants is planning next.

The most straightforward interpretation is that the teaser points towards the third chapter in Abe’s modern story. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, later remade as New ‘n’ Tasty, introduced the iconic Mudokon hero, while Oddworld: Soulstorm reimagined the events of Abe’s Exoddus and ended with the revelation surrounding Abe’s mother. A follow-up focusing on his journey to Nolybab would naturally continue that storyline.

There is another possibility, however. Some long-time fans believe “Part 3” could instead refer to the original Oddworld Quintology, the ambitious five-game plan first outlined by the developers years ago.

Under that roadmap, Abe’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath form the first two main entries, while Abe’s Exoddus and Munch’s Oddysee were considered side stories rather than numbered chapters. If that original vision is still being followed, the teaser could represent the long-awaited third instalment of the Quintology instead of simply another Abe sequel.

Either interpretation places Abe at the centre of the story once again, especially given that the teaser directly continues the unresolved ending from Soulstorm.

In my view, continuing Abe’s search for his mother feels like the strongest direction the series could take. Soulstorm deliberately left that storyline unresolved, and adding “Part 3 coming” immediately after that ending seems far too deliberate to be anything other than a tease for what happens next. Until the studio confirms its plans, though, fans should still treat this as speculation rather than an official game announcement.

The reaction from the community shows just how much interest still surrounds the franchise. Many fans welcomed the tease after years of silence, with several saying they had been waiting since Soulstorm launched for news of a sequel. Others expressed hope that Munch’s Oddysee or Stranger’s Wrath could also return in future remakes or reimagined releases.

Not everyone was convinced by the tease. Some viewers described the short video as frustrating because it offered no gameplay or announcement beyond the title and closing message, while others joked that Oddworld Inhabitants had successfully baited them into expecting a full reveal.

For now, the studio has not shared any additional details. Whether “Part 3” refers to Abe’s next adventure, the long-awaited continuation of the Quintology, or something else entirely, the teaser has succeeded in putting Oddworld back into the spotlight.
