Bloober Team has released a new Cronos: Lazarus gameplay teaser trailer, giving players another look at the upcoming expansion while teasing new story details and showcasing the DLC’s more aggressive combat style.
Following last week’s developer diary, the latest trailer shifts the focus to gameplay, highlighting new weapons, abilities, and the hostile wasteland players will explore as the Pathfinder during the events that ultimately lead to his transformation into the Warden from Cronos: The New Dawn.
Set after the Pathfinder becomes separated from the Collective, Cronos: Lazarus follows him as he searches for a lost Essence that he refuses to abandon. Operating from the Terminal, he continues his mission despite being cut off from his former allies, only to find himself hunted by a deadly new enemy tasked with eliminating the future Warden.
Unlike the base game, the expansion leans into a faster, more offensive style of combat. Although the Warden is still recovering from years of surviving in the wasteland, he retains powerful abilities that allow him to move quickly, hit hard, and withstand overwhelming odds.
The trailer also introduces the expansion’s primary antagonist, a relentless hunter specifically created to match the Warden’s abilities. According to Bloober Team, encounters with this new foe will develop into large-scale cinematic battles designed to push players’ combat skills to their limits.
The footage offers another glimpse at the Pathfinder’s evolving abilities, including teleportation and decoy techniques that support the DLC’s greater emphasis on mobility and aggressive engagements. At the same time, the story hints that the Collective may not be as united or unquestionable as players were initially led to believe, suggesting the expansion will explore new sides of its world and characters.
I think the biggest takeaway from the trailer is how clearly it distinguishes Lazarus from the base game. Rather than simply adding another chapter, the expansion appears to reshape both the narrative and combat by placing players in the role of the Pathfinder at a pivotal point in his story, while introducing a rival capable of matching his growing abilities. This trailer was under a minute long, so lets just see what’s on offer in future gameplay reveals.
Cronos: Lazarus is scheduled to launch later this autumn for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
