Key Highlights:

  • Fable requires at least an RTX 2060, RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580 for 1080p at 30 FPS on Low settings.
  • Playing at 1440p and 60 FPS raises the requirement to an RTX 5070, RTX 3080 Ti, RX 9070 or RX 7900 XT.
  • The Ultra specification targets 4K at 60 FPS with an RTX 5080 or RTX 4080, while all PC configurations require an SSD.

Ahead of its February 2027 launch, Fable has received its full PC hardware requirements, revealing four performance tiers ranging from 1080p at 30 FPS to 4K at 60 FPS.

Playground Games is asking for relatively modest hardware at the lowest end, with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i7-6850K paired with an RTX 2060, RTX 5050, RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580. That configuration targets 1080p at 30 FPS on Low settings and requires 12GB of system RAM and 6GB of VRAM.

The requirements climb considerably once 60 FPS enters the picture.

Ultra4K / 60 FPSRyzen 9 7900X / Core i9-13900KRTX 5080 / RTX 408016GB1

All four configurations require Windows 10 22H2 and an SSD, while the Steam listing specifies DirectX 12 and 135GB of available storage. Playground Games also recommends enabling XMP and Resizable BAR.

The jump between Medium and High is particularly noticeable. Medium can deliver either 1440p at 30 FPS or 1200p at 60 FPS using hardware such as an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT, but reaching 1440p at 60 FPS pushes the GPU requirement as high as an RTX 5070, RTX 3080 Ti, RX 9070 or RX 7900 XT.

Ultra is significantly more demanding again. Fable targets 4K at 60 FPS with either an RTX 5080 or RTX 4080 alongside a Ryzen 9 7900X or Core i9-13900K. No AMD or Intel GPU alternative is currently listed for the Ultra configuration.

I think the 1440p specification is more revealing than the headline-grabbing RTX 5080 requirement, because an RTX 5070-class GPU for 60 FPS suggests Fable could become a demanding PC release well before players reach Ultra settings.

One important detail remains unclear. Playground Games has not specified whether these resolution and frame-rate targets assume native rendering, upscaling or frame generation, so the listed performance figures should not currently be interpreted as guaranteed native-resolution targets.

What has been confirmed is that the PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR alongside 4K visuals and uncapped frame rates. That gives players additional options beyond the four hardware profiles, although exactly how Playground intends those technologies to interact with its recommended settings has not yet been detailed.

The requirements arrive immediately after Playground gave players a much closer look at Albion during Gamescom. GLN’s extended Fable gameplay coverage showed 18 minutes of Bowerstone exploration, combat and questing, including a city where every building can be entered and every house can be purchased.

That world also feeds into Fable’s Living Population system. Albion contains more than 1,000 individually created NPCs whose lives continue whether the Hero is present or not. Each has their own personality and routine, while players can form friendships, rivalries, employment relationships and romances with them.

Reputation works through those individual relationships rather than relying purely on a simple universal morality meter. Decisions can affect how specific villagers perceive the Hero and can produce wider consequences for settlements, giving Playground’s simulation considerably more work to handle alongside the game’s visual presentation.

Fable launches on February 23, 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The PC and Xbox versions support Xbox Play Anywhere, while the game will also be available through Game Pass from launch.
