Key Highlights:
- Arjun joins Street Fighter 6 on October 13 as the second Year 4 character after Yasmine.
- His Yoga Breathing moveset revolves around heavy strikes, traps and recoverable damage that can build even when opponents successfully block.
- Arjun can create delayed earth pillars, convert them into attacks and use a command throw to turn existing recoverable damage into permanent health loss.
Arriving on October 13, Street Fighter 6 newcomer Arjun will fight as a slower powerhouse built around Yoga Breathing, recoverable damage and traps that continue putting pressure on opponents even when they defend successfully.
Capcom confirmed the release date alongside Arjun’s first full gameplay trailer. The former Indian police officer is the second fighter in Street Fighter 6 Year 4, following Yasmine’s August debut and preceding Tifa Lockhart in early 2027 and Bosch in spring 2027.
Arjun’s story begins with the murder of his police partner. Framed for the killing, he goes on the run while attempting to discover who was responsible. His fighting style uses what Capcom calls Yoga Breathing, trading speed for powerful attacks, projectiles and defensive tools.
The most unusual part of that design is recoverable damage.
Several Arjun attacks can damage the grey portion of an opponent’s health even when they block. Ghastly Interrogation, his command throw, normally deals recoverable damage as well, but changes to normal damage if the opponent is already carrying recoverable health.
I think that interaction is the real heart of Arjun’s design. Blocking may stop an immediate clean hit, but repeatedly allowing him to build recoverable damage creates another problem because his command grab can then convert that pressure into permanent damage.
His defensive options feed into the same system.
Indomitable Defense uses Arjun’s breathing technique to counter incoming melee attacks with recoverable damage. While that stance is active, Moral Breakdown lets him strike forward with both fists, dealing recoverable damage on block and normal damage if it connects cleanly.
Arjun also has several ways to control space.
Breathing Ring creates a ring of compressed air that can be followed with Breathing Shockwave, sending it forward as a projectile at different angles.
Divine Pillar raises an earth pillar from the ground. Attack strength controls where it appears, while holding the button delays its activation, giving Arjun a way to set traps rather than relying entirely on direct pressure.
The pillar can then become part of another attack. If Cruel Shoulder connects with an active Divine Pillar, Arjun can transition into Justice Beyond, grabbing the pillar and swinging it towards his opponent.
That combination gives him a setup-based element alongside his slower heavy attacks, forcing opponents to consider both Arjun himself and objects he has already placed on screen.
Other special moves include Arm of Justice, a winding punch with strength-dependent variations and an optional follow-up, while Cruel Shoulder functions as a forward-moving shoulder attack with different properties depending on the version used.
His three Super Arts continue the breathing theme. Howling Destruction is his Level 1, Instant Oblivion launches the opponent away and can leave Arjun positioned to establish a Divine Pillar, while the cinematic Yaksha’s Order serves as his Level 3 Super Art.
The gameplay reveal follows the arrival of Yasmine’s rushdown moveset, which opened Year 4 with almost the opposite philosophy. Yasmine relies on mobility, Eskrima attacks and sustained offensive pressure, while Arjun appears designed to move more deliberately and punish opponents for allowing him to establish control.
Arjun will be available individually using Fighter Coins. Owners of the Year 4 Character Pass or Year 4 Ultimate Pass will receive him automatically when he releases.
His Outfit 1 represents his life on the run, while Outfit 2 depicts an idealised version of Arjun after moving beyond his search for justice. Outfit 2 can be unlocked by maxing his Acquisition Gauge in Avatar Arcade Mode or purchased using Fighter Coins.
Capcom has also launched the Arjun Arrives! Fighting Pass ahead of the character himself. Premium rewards include new EX colours for Dhalsim and Lily, Challenger Screen illustrations for Ryu and Elena and the classic Capcom arcade shooter Giga Wing, which can be played through Street Fighter 6.
The Fighting Pass does not unlock Arjun early. His playable release remains October 13 across PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
Arjun arrives during an already busy period for Street Fighter 6. Capcom only recently added the free Street Fighter movie rewards, while Tifa and Bosch will complete the remaining Year 4 character releases in 2027.
