Street Fighter 6 Free Zangief Movie Code Goes Live October 16

Starting October 16, Street Fighter 6 players can redeem a free Zangief cosmetic inspired by the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film, using a promotional code revealed during IGN Fall Fan Fest.

The reward takes inspiration from Olivier Richters’ portrayal of Zangief in the movie, which reaches cinemas on the same day.

Zangief redemption code:

The code was revealed exclusively on October 12 as part of IGN’s Fall Fan Fest announcement and is valid across all supported Street Fighter 6 platforms. Players will need an internet connection and their own copy of the game to claim it.

To redeem the reward once it becomes active:

1. Launch Street Fighter 6 and open the Multi Menu.
2. Select Options → General → Input Event Code.
3. Enter SF8T-QWM9-PTNT-VQN3 and confirm.

Capcom uses this redemption process for its other movie-inspired promotions, although the publisher has not yet specified the exact activation time or expiry date for Zangief’s code.

There is also an important distinction between a new costume and an additional outfit colour.

Capcom’s existing Guile and M. Bison movie promotions provide special colours for their respective Outfit 2 designs. Those rewards require ownership of the underlying outfit before the new colour can be equipped, although players can enter a valid code beforehand.

Outfit 2 can be unlocked without spending money by raising the relevant character’s Bond Level to 100 in World Tour. Alternatively, players can purchase it using Fighter Coins.

The unanswered question is whether players can equip Zangief’s free cosmetic immediately or need to unlock his Outfit 2 first. Capcom’s previous movie colour giveaways required ownership of the underlying outfit, and I think that’s important to know when a reward is being promoted as free.

Zangief is not the only character receiving a film crossover reward. Capcom has also revealed cosmetics inspired by Hirooki Goto’s E. Honda and Vidyut Jammwal’s Dhalsim, although their individual redemption codes have not yet been published.

The wider promotion has already included a Guile movie colour distributed through Twitch viewing rewards and a separate M. Bison colour offered through qualifying Capcom Town Store purchases.

This follows another Street Fighter movie giveaway covered by GLN in September, when Capcom introduced 11 free New Challenger images featuring the film’s characters. Unlike the latest cosmetics, those rewards change the artwork displayed before matches rather than the fighters’ in-game appearance.

The new film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and takes place in 1993, with Ryu and Ken recruited by Chun-Li for the World Warrior Tournament.

For players interested in the Zangief reward, the important date is October 16. Entering the code before its activation will not unlock the cosmetic, while Capcom has yet to confirm how long this particular offer will remain available.
