Key Highlights:

  • Capcom has released a major Street Fighter 6 Season 4 balance update affecting every existing fighter.
  • Manon receives substantial improvements to her neutral game, combos and anti-projectile options, while Mai has been weakened in several areas.
  • Capcom released a Yasmine Update launch trailer showcasing the new fighter, her Arcade Mode story, Combo Trials and Character Guide.

Capcom has released one of Street Fighter 6’s largest balance updates yet, making changes across the entire roster alongside the arrival of Yasmine and the beginning of Year 4.

The update went live on 3 August and contains adjustments for every existing fighter. Capcom says the overall aim is to shift the game’s balance by reviewing the strengths, weaknesses and intended roles of each character rather than applying a small collection of isolated fixes.

The full change list is enormous. Rather than reproducing hundreds of individual frame-data, hitbox and damage adjustments, players can read the complete Street Fighter 6 Season 4 patch notes through Capcom’s official Battle Change List.

Some of the most immediate changes affect fighters who have struggled to establish themselves consistently within the competitive roster.

Manon has received an extensive set of improvements intended to expand both her neutral game and available combo routes. Capcom has strengthened several attacks, improved her anti-projectile options and made her command grab more reliable by increasing its active frames.

Her standing heavy kick now offers greater practical value, while Renversé has become a more effective answer to projectiles. The changes give Manon more ways to approach opponents and convert successful hits without abandoning the Medal system that defines her long-term damage potential.

The scale of those improvements has already produced one of the strongest positive reactions within the Street Fighter community. Early player testing suggests Manon has gained meaningful new combo routes rather than receiving the minor numerical increases sometimes given to lower-performing characters. That assessment remains provisional until players have spent more time testing match-ups and tournament situations.

Alex also gains several new options. His DDT now carries projectile invulnerability, allowing the grappler to challenge fireball pressure in situations where the move previously offered less protection. Early reactions have highlighted the change as a potentially important addition to his approach game.

JP has also received improvements despite already maintaining a strong reputation among players. That decision has drawn some surprise because the long-range fighter has remained competitively effective across multiple versions of Street Fighter 6. The real effect of his latest adjustments will depend on how they interact with the buffs given to characters trying to close distance against him.

Mai Shiranui moves in the opposite direction. Capcom says several of her attacks have been reduced in strength, continuing its efforts to control the pressure and match dominance she has demonstrated since joining the roster.

GLN previously covered a Street Fighter 6 balance update that nerfed Mai while buffing Elena and Sagat, showing that Capcom had already begun reducing some of Mai’s strongest options before the start of Year 4.

Beyond individual characters, the update corrects a system-level input problem involving Drive Reversal. Holding backwards during the opponent’s Drive Reversal screen freeze could previously cancel an earlier command or button input; that unintended behaviour has now been fixed.

The balance overhaul accompanies Yasmine, Street Fighter 6’s first Year 4 DLC character. The Filipino fighter uses Eskrima and applies fast close-range pressure through weapon attacks, advancing movement and rapid conversions.

Capcom has added Yasmine’s Arcade Mode story, Combo Trials and Character Guide as part of the update.

Yasmine begins a Year 4 roster that will also introduce Arjun in autumn 2026, Tifa Lockhart in early 2027 and Bosch in spring 2027. Capcom had announced in advance that Yasmine’s release would include adjustments for every fighter, but the finished notes reveal a considerably broader rebalancing than a routine DLC update.

The immediate community response has been mixed. Manon players have welcomed what appear to be long-requested improvements, while the decision to strengthen fighters such as JP has proved more contentious. Separate criticism has also emerged around other elements of the Yasmine update, although definitive conclusions about the new competitive hierarchy would be premature only hours after release.

Major Street Fighter balance updates often produce interactions that are not obvious from the written notes alone. Frame changes can create new punish opportunities, combo routes and match-up answers that only become clear after extensive training-room and tournament testing.

The safest early conclusion is that Capcom has attempted to move more characters towards competitive viability instead of simply weakening the existing leaders. Manon is the clearest early example, but almost every match-up in Street Fighter 6 may require some degree of reassessment as Year 4 begins.
