Starting September 8, Street Fighter 6 players can claim 11 free New Challenger images based on the characters appearing in this year’s live-action Street Fighter movie.
Capcom announced the giveaway through the official Street Fighter account and says the images will be distributed through the in-game News section. No end date has been announced, so the September 8 date currently marks when claiming begins rather than a confirmed limited-time window.
The collaboration covers 11 characters who exist in both Street Fighter 6 and the film:

The rewards are not character skins. New Challenger images are illustrations used on the customised introduction screen that appears before a fight. Street Fighter 6 lets players change the character portrait, visual effect and effect colour through the Customize Challenges options. Capcom has previously distributed additional Challenger Screen artwork through updates and promotional events.
That distinction matters because the film contains several other Street Fighter characters who are not included in the 11-image set. Balrog, Vega and Dan Hibiki are among the characters appearing in the movie, but none currently forms part of Street Fighter 6’s playable roster. Paramount’s official trailer also confirms Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega and Andrew Schulz as Dan.
I think limiting the crossover to Challenger artwork is a sensible first step, although movie-inspired costumes would obviously create a much more substantial connection between the game and film.
Street Fighter 6 has used its pre-match presentation for crossover and promotional artwork before. The Ghosts ‘n Goblins Fighting Pass included themed Challenger Screen illustrations alongside avatar equipment, titles and other rewards.
External franchises have also entered Street Fighter 6 through cosmetics. The earlier Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover allowed players to dress their World Tour and Battle Hub avatars as Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo rather than adding the Turtles as conventional playable fighters.
The movie promotion also fits a wider strategy Capcom has already outlined to investors. During its financial briefing for the year ending March 2026, the publisher specifically highlighted both in-game collaborations and the live-action Street Fighter film as ways of extending its franchises beyond individual game releases.
Street Fighter itself is set in 1993 and follows Ryu and Ken after Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. Legendary Entertainment says a conspiracy behind the tournament forces the two fighters to confront both each other and their pasts. The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai, co-produced by Capcom and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The New Challenger images arrive while Street Fighter 6 is already well into Year 4. Yasmine began the latest character cycle on August 3, with Arjun scheduled for autumn 2026, Tifa Lockhart for early 2027 and Bosch for spring 2027.
Tifa is therefore not currently playable, despite some coverage referring to her as though she has already joined the roster. Capcom’s present schedule places the Final Fantasy VII guest character in early 2027.
The live-action Street Fighter movie reaches cinemas on October 16, 2026, giving the September 8 artwork release just over a month to promote the film inside Capcom’s current fighting game.
