Key Highlights:

  • Rockstar Games has released the official GTA 6 launch trailer ahead of its November 19 release.
  • French electronic duo Justice are composing the original score, with a new song featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
  • The trailer was captured on PlayStation 5, while pre-loading begins November 12.

Rockstar Games has released the official launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, offering another look at Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos ahead of the game’s November 19 arrival on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Published on October 15, the roughly 90-second trailer returns to the streets of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, combining cinematic storytelling with scenes of robberies, vehicle pursuits and the criminal underworld surrounding the two protagonists.

Rockstar’s official launch trailer reinforces the central premise of the story. After a seemingly straightforward robbery goes wrong, Jason and Lucia become entangled in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, forcing them to depend on one another to survive.

The footage also touches on Jason’s military background and Lucia’s imprisonment, providing further context for their relationship before the events of the main campaign.

Rockstar says the entire trailer was captured in-game on PlayStation 5, although it has not confirmed an exact frame-rate or resolution target through this announcement. The PlayStation branding does not change the previously confirmed Xbox Series X|S release.

The new footage follows GLN’s earlier GTA 6 Trailer 2 coverage and Rockstar’s 26-minute Extended Look released in August. Unlike that more detailed gameplay presentation, the launch trailer concentrates on the atmosphere, characters and story rather than introducing a substantial collection of new gameplay mechanics.

Perhaps the biggest surprise comes from the music.

Justice, the French electronic duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, are composing GTA 6’s original score. The new trailer introduces their track Flower in a Hurricane, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

I find the score announcement particularly interesting because it goes beyond Rockstar selecting another licensed song for a trailer. Justice’s involvement extends to the music composed specifically for the game, giving the duo a much larger role in shaping its sound.

Rockstar has also confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album will contain 34 original tracks, launching alongside the game on November 19. Its announced artists include Travis Scott, Cardi B, Yung Lean and Keith Richards, with several singles already available to hear.

The publisher’s expanded music information also confirms the return of Flash FM, alongside stations covering metal, country, Latin music and hip-hop. Rockstar describes its selection of in-game radio stations and podcasts as its largest yet.

With the launch trailer now available, the next major milestone is pre-loading.

Players who have pre-ordered digitally can begin downloading GTA 6 on November 12 at midnight local time. Boxed editions will also begin reaching retailers that day, although they contain digital download codes rather than physical game discs.

The game remains scheduled for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no officially announced PC release date. Rockstar has not used the new trailer to confirm a console performance mode or announce any changes to the release schedule.
