Upon first entering the opulent Grand Hall region nested deep within Ramon Salazar’s stronghold in Resident Evil 4, Leon discovers a troubling rodent infestation. A blue note warns that rats have been gnawing away at the castle’s priceless book collection. Never one to ignore a cry for help, our hero opts to exterminate these pesky vermin himself via a unique side quest dubbed “More Pest Control.”

This optional Blue Request tasks Leon with hunting down and eliminating three bothersome rats scattered throughout the palatial Grand Hall area. And his reward for a job well done? A generous 3 Spinels from the Merchant once all targets have been neutralised.

Starting the Resident Evil 4 Remake More Pest Control Quest

The first step is interacting with the Blue Request Note situated just left of the doorway leading into the Dining Hall from the Grand Hall lobby. Reading this note marks all three rats’ locations on Leon’s map and initiates the extermination hunt.

With that, it’s time to begin sweeping each room in search of fast-moving furry rodents. Steady aim and quick reflexes are key to catching and killing these agile annoyances before they scamper away! Use the map above to find out the exact location of where this is in the Grand Hall.

The first observed rodent dashes about the corridor connecting the Grand Hall lobby to the octagonal Armoury room. It should be in view roaming about on the red carpet, run it down with knives drawn or blast it away with the trusty handgun. Just be ready to react fast when it scurries into view!

Rat #2 – Inside the Dining Hall

Next, just past the puzzle box protecting the Serpent Statue Head, rat #2 roams around the posh Dining Hall interior. Catch it creeping out from beneath tables and chairs before popping a pistol shot through its tiny skull.

Rat #3 – Hidden Library Debris

Finding the last elusive rat takes a touch of patience and perfect timing. In Chapter 9 towards the end, Ashley reaches a debris-filled passage inside the Library where only she can fit. Beyond the rubble lurks rat #3, but Ashley lacks the means to kill it.

Later when controlling Leon again in Chapter 10, backtrack to this exact spot, crouch through the gap, then blast the rodent once the coast is clear.

Completing the More Pest Control Quest

With all three loathsome rats exterminated for good, Leon can report his admirable accomplishments back to The Merchant. In return for tackling this unsavoury task, Leon is rewarded with 3 Spinels – perfect for upgrading weapons and gear back in the village!

This concludes the Resident Evil 4 Remake More Pest Control Merchant Request. The decadent Grand Hall library collection is safe and you can move on to the next task.
