Flashpoint Fever: Blizzard Unveils Two Mesmerising New Maps

Among the array of goodies, Overwatch 2 is introducing a new support hero, and finally, after much anticipation and a few delays, the Hero Mastery System is making its debut. But that’s not all, buckle up for an epic PvE adventure as Overwatch 2 unfurls a thrilling story mode called Invasion. Prepare to unite forces and face gripping challenges through three gripping story missions, venturing through iconic locales like Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg.

Yet, the centrepiece is undoubtedly the Flashpoint mode – a game-changer influenced by Control and Assault, offering a multi-objective battle for supremacy. Picture two teams clashing across fresh new maps, all vying to rack up those precious 3 points. Brace yourselves, Overwatch 2’s Season 6 is shaping up to be an explosive delight!

Now, hold on tight, because Blizzard is teasing us with a glimpse of the captivating new locations – Suravasa and New Junk City! Suravasa, nestled in India along the scenic river Roshani, boasts a breathtaking blend of nature and man-made marvels.

Prepare to be awestruck by stunning architecture, majestic fountains, and grand temples, all coexisting harmoniously with lush trees, sprawling vines, and natural structures that meld seamlessly into the city. And keep your eyes peeled – you might just spot some sneaky crocodiles lurking at the river’s edge!

Journey to New Junk City: Australia’s Pulsating Playground

Not to be outdone, New Junk City, situated in Australia, serves as the stomping grounds of iconic characters like Roadhog, Junker Queen, and the mischievous Junkrat. This sprawling metropolis is a heady concoction of outback sands and metallic structures that instantly scream “Junkertown!” However, make no mistake – New Junk City delivers a one-of-a-kind experience with its vast urban landscape, mesmerising neon displays, and a breathtaking arena showcased in Junker Queen’s thrilling debut trailer for Overwatch 2.

Now, while the excitement is soaring high, some troubling news has dampened the spirits of Overwatch 2 enthusiasts. Activision Blizzard recently laid off approximately 50 employees, primarily from the eSports division, casting uncertainty on the future of the beloved Overwatch League. Furthermore, the earnings call for Q2 2023 revealed a dip in both Overwatch 2 player count and engagement levels – a cause for concern.

But fret not, for Season 6 holds the key to reversing these trends! With the enthralling arrival of PvE missions, Activision Blizzard is banking on a revitalisation of player engagement. Another piece of encouraging news is that the game is making it’s debut on Steam next month too.

Summon your comrades and dust off your controllers, Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
