Mortal Kombat 1’s Disgusting New Fatality Sparks Season Pass Speculation. The Beat ‘Em Up is set to receive a gruesome and controversial new fatality in time for Thanksgiving, adding to the gory finishing moves roster. It comes on the heels of an equally divisive Halloween-themed fatality DLC.

Meanwhile, game director Ed Boon has been stoking speculation about a potential Kombat Pack 2, though horror movie guests seem unlikely at this stage.

Thanksgiving Fatality Pushes New Boundaries of Violence

Data miners have uncovered a new holiday-inspired fatality that sees Sub-Zero graphically force-feed a full Thanksgiving dinner to an opponent before making them violently throw it all back up.

As with the previous Halloween fatality, any fighter can perform the grisly new move. It involves summoning a holiday feast and then stomping the opponent’s jaw open to pile food inside.

After stuffing the victim with turkey, pies and more, Sub-Zero jumps on their swollen belly, causing a projectile vomiting of the entire meal – eyes and skull cap included.

Fans are calling it possibly the most disgusting Mortal Kombat fatality yet – an impressive feat given the series’ long history.

It launches as part of the upcoming Seasonal Fatalities bundle along with a winter-themed kill.

The addition sparked renewed criticism over NetherRealm’s policy of selling fatalities as DLC. Last month’s Halloween fatality was listed separately for around $12.

While naturally violent and gory finishes are part of Mortal Kombat’s DNA, some argue charging extra for iconic elements feels exploitative of fans.

However, the Seasonal Fatalities bundle will include all three finishing moves for players who bought the Halloween DLC individually.

Director Teases Kombat Pack 2 Possibilities

With Kombat Pack 1 characters still rolling out through 2024, Pack 2 has not been officially confirmed yet. But director Ed Boon hinted at what it could include in a recent tweet.

He posted a gif of Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Ghostface and Pennywise with a joking “Kombat Pack 2” tag, trolling fans about horror movie icons joining the roster.

Boon previously teased Pennywise as DLC for MK 11 before it never materialised. So grains of salt are recommended.

Leaked Roster Lacks Horror Appeal

Alleged leaks point to Kombat Pack 2 featuring Deathstroke, Doom Slayer, Harley Quinn, Kano, Noob Saibot and Sareena rather than more horror homages.

These would continue Mortal Kombat 1’s comic book and action movie-themed guest characters over horror crossovers.

Past instalments already had Jason Voorhees, Predator, Alien’s Xenomorph, Leatherface and Freddy Krueger from horror properties. Re-treading that ground so soon seems unlikely.

Desire for Variety Remains

While horror movie characters like Candyman or IT’s Pennywise would excite some portion of the fanbase, the gory Beat ‘Em Up has historically drawn guests from a wide spectrum of pop culture.

There’s an opportunity with Kombat Pack 2 to bring in fresh faces from other genres like video games, cartoons or anime. Keeping things diverse allows for the widest appeal.

But the DLC characters remain a mystery for now. Boon’s teasing hints and alleged leaks will keep speculation brewing as players await official K Pack 2 announcements down the line.

For the moment, the disgustingly creative new Thanksgiving fatality provides the next dose of MK1 mayhem. And the team is clearly not afraid to push boundaries and elicit reactions with its over-the-top violence.
