After months of waiting, Capcom has revealed the release date and full roster of costumes coming in Street Fighter 6’s highly anticipated Outfit 3 DLC on December 1st.

Key Highlights:

  • 18 costumes, one for each member of base SF6 roster.
  • Launch December 1, 2023 at unknown price point.
  • Some original designs, some based on endings/movies.
  • Controversy around lack of cosmetics post-launch.
  • Concept art and notes from devs explain outfits.

Street Fighter 6 has seen robust post-launch support with new modes and four upcoming DLC fighters. But cosmetic content has been severely lacking besides a controversial paid TMNT pack. Addressing fan criticism, Capcom is finally releasing the game’s first major outfit expansion this December.

Outfit 3 will introduce one new costume for all 18 World Warriors in the base Street Fighter 6 roster on December 1st. The designs include original looks along with some adapted from endings and movies.

Outfit Highlights and Notes

Some standout looks include Ken with a stylish biker outfit, Kimberly in traditional Bushinryu gear, and Luke sporting his SF5 appearance.

Chun-Li gets an elegant casual outfit allowing freedom of movement while Ryu rocks plain clothes for laundry day with his headband substituting as a bath towel.

Cammy’s sexy take on her red coat look from the SF2 animated movie also makes a return.

The official concept art includes dev notes explaining the context and inspiration behind each costume pick. It provides some nice insights into their creative process.

Controversy Around Cosmetics

Despite praise for its gameplay and content offerings, Capcom has drawn criticism for SF6’s lack of post-launch costumes besides the movie crossover pack. Unbelievably, there has been more content added to third-party titles like PUBG with Street Fighter 6 content than the actual game itself.

Outfit 2 did add classic alts for the starting roster but with no word on more coming over past months. So Outfit 3’s December announcement aims to address fans wanting more regular cosmetics.

How they choose to monetise the DLC will be under scrutiny. But hopefully launch sales success gives leeway for fair pricing to avoid more backlash.

Ongoing SF6 Content and Fighters

Street Fighter 6 has seen regular updates since its June launch, including new modes and balance tweaks. Four DLC characters are also slated over the next year.

A.K.I. already released in September along with Rashid who arrived in June, Ed will be arriving this winter and Akuma next spring. The four expand the diverse base roster that has become a strong foundation for the game’s future.

And with Outfit 3 finally showing off fresh looks, players can now better visually distinguish themselves with their mains and flex some style online. More cosmetics would still be welcome, but it answers calls for expanded customisation.

For diehard SF fans, both the concept art and in-game costumes provide some fan service and nostalgia. And newcomers can simply enjoy more visual variety among the World Warrior wardrobes. You can visit the official Street Fighter website for the complete lowdown from the design team.

With its stellar core mechanics, Street Fighter 6 just needed to bolster content offerings to realise its full potential. Outfit 3 seems a strong step in costumes and visual personalisation that players can celebrate this holiday season.
