After assessing the latest Public Test Build (PTB), the Dead by Daylight team at Behaviour Interactive unveiled upcoming tweaks for new killer Chucky and existing Trickster. It focuses on specific abilities and add-ons that proved overly powerful during recent playtesting.

Key Highlights:

  • Chucky’s Batteries Included perk nerfed.
  • Other Chucky changes speed up Survivor reactions.
  • Trickster receives reduced blade throw rate.
  • Main Event activation increased to require 8 blades.

With ever-evolving new chapters and killers, Dead by Daylight requires constant monitoring of new lethality elements that may overwhelm opposition. That effort remains ongoing as Chucky nears official launch while older options like Trickster get reigned in.

Chucky Ability and Perk Adjustments

Responding to positive reception, only minimal changes hit the Child’s Play menace Chucky. His ability to quickly scamper under pallets now takes slightly longer to let Survivors try dodging. Missing attacks also briefly slows Chucky more for victims escaping.

The biggest change affects his powerful Batteries Included perk that vastly boosted speed when passing powered generators. This quickly became overbearing when all were ultimately activated. So the perk fully deactivates upon opening exit gates to curb unmatched late match dominance. These nerfs will end up balancing the game perfectly moving forward.

Some specific add-ons like the combo extending Jump Rope also got diluted into the base toolkit to encourage more diversity. Various others received rebalancing to make additional options more appealing.

Trickster Receives Mixed Bag of Changes

Long struggling Trickster underwent extensive buffs in the PTB that ultimately swung strength too far the other way. After internal testing and feedback, his base blade throwing rate drops back down to three per second from four.

This better allows breaking line of sight to avoid quick lacerations building towards injured status. His movement speed boost somewhat counterbalances for closing gaps quicker to land more knives following successful dodges.

Activating his Main Event blade barrage ultimate now again requires all eight laceration meter charges instead of the lowered six. Related add-ons also faced revisions so this climax becomes harder to instantly unleash.

Ongoing Killer and Survivor Work

While Chucky and Trickster dominated focus for the impending patch, Dead by Daylight continually shuffles its deep roster hierarchy. Survivors too face frequent perk and ability adjustments affecting tactics.

So players can likely anticipate further tuning in subsequent PTB testing cycles as new chapters introduce fresh characters alongside existing ones facing modernisation.

Keeping asymmetric multiplayer horror thriving means scrutinising performance statistics and community perceptions to regular reassess optimal balance targets. If new options become momentarily dominant, tweaks like these help restore equilibrium.

Sometimes certain elements simply over perform expectations, whether due to stealth synergies between systems or gradual metagame shifts adjusting context. The horror title recently brought back the return of the Stranger Things collaboration which went down very well within the community.

Regular public test realm patches allow developers to respond before official launches, helping provide smoother transitions to live servers. There the team can monitor ongoing data trends should smaller post-launch nudges become necessary down the line.

But for now the next Dead by Daylight killer and perk flavours of the month shift to Chucky hastened by these driven amendments awaiting deployment soon.
