Square Enix Opens New Store in Tokyo

Square Enix has expanded its physical presence with the opening of the Square Enix Garden Official Goods Shop in Tokyo, Japan.

Located at the Shibuya Sakura Stage multipurpose complex, the store offers fans a treasure trove of merchandise from franchises like Final FantasyDragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts.

The store’s lineup includes an array of collectibles, such as:

  • Plush toys and figurines: Featuring characters like Cloud Strife and the iconic Dragon Quest slime.
  • Apparel and accessories: Hoodies, pins, and keychains.
  • Music and media: CDs showcasing Square Enix’s celebrated soundtracks.

Adding a touch of artistry, the store features sculptures of iconic characters, creating a museum-like experience for visitors.

A Peek Into the Store’s Highlights

The shop, part of the POP @P SPACE -SHIBUYA- on the third floor, opened its doors on December 19, 2024.

Veteran game designer Toshiyuki Itahana, known for his work on Final Fantasy IX and Crystal Chronicles, attended the grand opening and shared his enthusiasm via social media. Visitors can enjoy the shop from 10 AM to 9 PM, immersing themselves in Square Enix’s world of creativity and nostalgia.

In 2023, the famous Tower of London in England displayed the iconic Invictus sword from FF16.

Square Enix’s Merchandise Success

The merchandise segment has been a silver lining in an otherwise challenging year for Square Enix.

While net sales for the April–September period decreased by 8.4%, the merchandise division recorded a 14.7% year-over-year growth.

This success stems from the high demand for products featuring iconic characters.

Pre-Orders Open for FF7 Rebirth Masterline Statues

As part of its merchandise expansion, Square Enix has unveiled its latest Masterline statues featuring characters from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. These statues, created in collaboration with Prime 1 Studio, showcase Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, and Zack Fair in intricate detail.

Prime 1 Studio’s past collaborations with the gaming giant include their acclaimed NieR: Automata statues, which have earned them a reputation for unmatched craftsmanship in the collectibles industry.

The Final Fantasy series is very popular in Japan, with the recent Famitsu poll for the 30th Anniversary of PlayStation, Japanese gamers voted Final Fantasy 7 to top spot.

Cloud and Sephiroth: Premium Collectibles

The Cloud Strife statue is priced at $2,400, with a deluxe version available for $2,600. Similarly, the Sephiroth statue starts at $2,700, with a deluxe option at $2,900.

The deluxe editions include swappable parts, such as an alternate torso for Sephiroth and additional swords for Cloud.

Statue Features:

  • Height: Approximately 27 inches.
  • Base Design: Unique blue hexagonal bases to unify the collection.
  • Attention to Detail: Special emphasis on lifelike elements, such as the characters’ eyes.

Square Enix has also teased a similar statue for Zack Fair, with pre-orders yet to open.

These high-end statues have become a hallmark of the company’s approach to blending art and fandom, offering collectors pieces that often appreciate in value over time.

While the craftsmanship justifies the high price tags, fans should prepare for a long wait.

The earliest release date is February 2026 for Cloud’s deluxe statue, with other statues rolling out monthly through May 2026. The opening of the Square Enix Garden Official Goods Shop underscores the company’s commitment to engaging its fanbase beyond gaming.

By linking the physical store experience with high-end collectibles like the Masterline statues, Square Enix strengthens its brand identity while catering to fans who cherish its creative legacy.
