Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios have released the first T-1000 gameplay teaser for Mortal Kombat 1, revealing the liquid-metal assassin from Terminator 2: Judgment Day alongside the surprise announcement of Madam Bo as a new Kameo Fighter.
The trailer debuted during Pro Kompetition Mexico, showcasing the T-1000’s shapeshifting attacks, a brutal Fatality inspired by the 1991 film and its upcoming release dates.
The T-1000 enters early access on 18 March 2025 for Khaos Reigns expansion owners, followed by a standalone release on 25 March.
NetherRealm has confirmed that Robert Patrick provides both the likeness and voice of the T-1000, reprising the role he made famous in Terminator 2.
The advanced Terminator is built from mimetic polyalloy, allowing its liquid-metal body to imitate human appearances and transform into deadly weapons.
In the teaser, the T-1000 demonstrates this ability by turning its arms into blades and hooks, delivering powerful strikes against its opponents.
Other sequences show the machine dissolving into a metallic puddle before reforming to launch an uppercut, alongside evasive movements that make use of its fluid body.
What interests me most is how NetherRealm has translated the character’s liquid-metal properties into movement as well as attacks. The T-1000 doesn’t simply resemble its film counterpart; its ability to change shape is visibly part of how it fights.
However, this is an initial gameplay teaser rather than the complete moveset demonstration, with additional abilities and finishing moves still to be revealed.
The trailer concludes with a Fatality recreating the famous truck chase from Terminator 2.
The T-1000 pursues Johnny Cage in a truck before using its liquid-metal body to emerge from the vehicle and unleash a barrage of gunfire, turning one of the film’s most memorable sequences into a gruesome Mortal Kombat execution.
NetherRealm also reveals Madam Bo, the elderly tea house proprietor who appeared in Mortal Kombat 1’s story campaign.
Rather than joining the main playable roster, Madam Bo becomes a Kameo Fighter, providing support attacks during matches. The teaser briefly shows her assisting the T-1000 against Johnny Cage.
Her appearance is a particularly unexpected addition, giving a familiar story character a new role within Mortal Kombat 1’s fighting system.
Madam Bo launches on 18 March, with Khaos Reigns owners receiving her at no additional cost. She will also be available for standalone purchase on the same date.
The T-1000 is the sixth and final Fighter announced for Kombat Pack 2, completing the lineup originally unveiled with the Khaos Reigns expansion.
The previous guest Fighter, Conan the Barbarian, arrived in January, following Ghostface and the three returning Mortal Kombat characters Cyrax, Sektor and Noob Saibot.
With the T-1000’s March release approaching, NetherRealm has now revealed the final playable addition from its second Kombat Pack. Whether more Fighters will follow has not been officially confirmed.
