Rayman 30th Anniversary Brings Future Game Tease

Key Highlights:

  • Ubisoft marks Rayman’s 30th anniversary with a new message to fans.
  • A future project is in the works at Ubisoft Montpellier and Milan.
  • Anniversary content will include developer stories, concept art, and music.

Rayman has officially turned 30, and Ubisoft is using the milestone to both look back at the series and quietly tease what’s next. The publisher relaunched the long-dormant Rayman X social channels to share a new video featuring brand producer Loic Gounon, who confirmed that the character isn’t forgotten.

Gounon said a team at Ubisoft Montpellier, working alongside Ubisoft Milan, is currently developing the future of Rayman. He was careful to set expectations, stressing that news won’t arrive anytime soon, but fans should know the franchise is in good hands.

For me, that careful phrasing suggests Ubisoft is treating this as a long-term revival rather than a quick spin-off. Having seen how the publisher positioned past anniversaries for other titles, I’d argue this is one of the strongest signals in years that a full new Rayman project is actually underway.

As we reported back in May, Ubisoft Milan were hiring for a new AAA Rayman game that incorporates 3D gameplay. That is all but confirmed now after today’s news.

The video wasn’t just about the future. Ubisoft also wants to honour Rayman’s past, promising to release behind-the-scenes stories, interviews with developers, concept art, and other archive material throughout the anniversary period.

These are the kinds of insights fans rarely get, and they could help underline just how influential Rayman has been since debuting in 1995.

Composer Christophe Heral, known for scoring Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, also joined the message. He thanked players for their support over the years before playing a short piece to mark the celebration. His inclusion was no accident. Ubisoft knows the music of the series is a big part of its identity, and spotlighting Heral reinforces the emotional connection fans have with Rayman.

The anniversary doesn’t mean a new game is imminent, but it does put Rayman back in the conversation. With Ubisoft Montpellier tied to some of the series’ best entries, and Milan continuing to earn respect after its work on Mario + Rabbids, the collaboration makes sense.

If I had to guess, we’re looking at a project that aims to balance Rayman’s classic platforming roots with something fresh enough to reintroduce him to a new generation.

It was recently revealed last month that a 2021 remake was cancelled, codenamed Rayman Forever.

For now, Ubisoft is asking for patience, but the revival of community channels and the promise of steady anniversary content suggest this isn’t just nostalgia. It feels like the groundwork for Rayman’s proper return.
