Pearl Abyss has released Crimson Desert update 1.13.01, delivering another round of bug fixes and stability improvements for its open world action RPG. Unlike previous content-heavy updates, this release focuses on resolving technical issues reported by players, including crashes, performance drops and progression bugs affecting several areas of the game.
Since launching in March, Pearl Abyss has maintained a steady update schedule, frequently responding to community feedback with gameplay improvements, new activities and quality of life enhancements instead of following a rigid post-launch roadmap. Update 1.13.01 continues that approach by prioritising overall stability ahead of future content releases.
One of the most notable fixes addresses a crash that could occur while riding a bear mount, an issue that affected some players exploring the game’s vast open world. The update also resolves problems that prevented rewards from being granted after completing certain challenges, ensuring progression is now recognised correctly.
Elsewhere, the patch fixes an issue that stopped Oongka from following Kliff during specific main quest sequences, corrects a problem preventing the liberation of the Hoenmark Ruins, and resolves an issue where livestock feed failed to decrease properly while animals were eating.
Performance has also received attention, with Pearl Abyss improving frame rate stability in environments where players had previously experienced noticeable slowdowns. The update additionally fixes rendering problems that could cause character models to display incorrectly on consoles and AMD-based systems.
I always see smaller maintenance patches like this as an important sign of long-term support. They may not introduce headline features, but consistently addressing crashes and progression issues helps build confidence that developers are listening to player feedback.
While this update centres entirely on fixes, Pearl Abyss has already confirmed that larger additions remain on the horizon. The studio has previously spoken about developing major DLC that will differ from its regular content updates, although it has yet to reveal exactly what players can expect.
The developer is also continuing to investigate additional platform opportunities. During a recent shareholder Q&A, Pearl Abyss confirmed it is evaluating whether Nintendo Switch 2 hardware can fully support Crimson Desert, with basic gameplay already running internally while optimisation work continues.
Away from the updates themselves, Crimson Desert has continued to build momentum commercially. The game recently surpassed six million copies sold worldwide, while physical editions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have also started appearing at their lowest retail prices to date, reflecting continued interest from players months after launch.
