Key Highlights:

  • Starsand Island has officially left Early Access and launched digitally on PC,PS5,Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Version 1.0 adds four-player online multiplayer, expanded relationships and new Autumn Festival content.
  • Multiplayer is currently limited to the same platform, with progress remaining tied to each persons own island.

Starsand Island has officially left Early Access, with Seed Sparkle Lab launching Version 1.0 on 18 August 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The farming and life simulation game originally entered Early Access on PC and Xbox in February, giving the development team around six months to expand and refine the island before its full release. PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 players can now join the community for the first time as part of the wider multiplatform launch.

Inspired by rural Chinese life and traditional Eastern philosophy, Starsand Island combines farming, fishing, animal care, crafting, building and exploration with friendships and romance. Players can also explore areas such as the Moonlit Forest and ancient ruins rather than remaining entirely focused on their farm.

One of the biggest additions to the full release is online multiplayer for up to four players.

Multiplayer works through a host island rather than a shared permanent world. Hosts can decide whether anyone can join, players must request access, or a password is required. Nintendo Switch 2 players currently need to use the password option when inviting friends.

Once connected, groups can farm, fish and explore together, as well as work on profession quests and complete requests. Island owners can also control which resources visitors are allowed to use, including access to different activities and materials.

There are two limitations worth knowing before gathering a group. Progress is not shared between islands, so guests still need to maintain their own save and may have to return home to complete certain quests. Cross-platform multiplayer is also unavailable at launch, although Seed Sparkle Lab says it is investigating whether the feature can be supported in the future.

Playing together provides its own rewards through Multiplayer Coins. Activities including farming, fishing, exploration and taking photographs can earn the currency, which can then be spent in a dedicated Multiplayer Shop.

I think the move to four-player multiplayer becomes considerably more important alongside the console launch, as the full release opens Starsand Island to players who may have followed its Early Access development without previously having access to the game.

Version 1.0 also develops the social side of island life.

New 3-Heart Relationship Stories become available after reaching three hearts with an NPC. These can be triggered through letters or special quests, and players returning from Early Access who have already reached the required relationship level do not need to restart their save to access them.

All 14 romanceable NPCs have also received expanded dating activities. Players can spend time with a partner through activities including seaside kite flying, picnics and arcade games. Seed Sparkle Lab describes Relationship Stories and dating as separate systems, with the former providing character-focused stories as bonds develop and dating becoming available once a relationship is sufficiently established.

A logo for "Starsand Island" appears above a surreal scene where four young characters are gathered in a room with a cosmic background. A couch and a rug with a celestial design are central. Toys like blocks and rockets are scattered around, and a television is visible in the foreground.
Autumn Pumpkin Festival and Community Creations Join 1.0

The full release brings more than multiplayer and romance.

A new Autumn Pumpkin Festival includes its own storyline, festival-specific quests and rare rewards connected to all five of the game’s professions.

Community creations are becoming part of the game as well. More than 20 designs selected through the previous Blueprint Contest have been added to the Blueprint Library for players to use on their islands. More than 40 additional Silver and Bronze award-winning designs are still being optimised and are planned for later updates.

Seed Sparkle Lab has also launched a new costume design competition following Version 1.0, with winning character and pet designs potentially making their way into future game content.

Leaving Early Access does not mark the end of development.

Seed Sparkle Lab says it intends to continue responding to feedback, fixing problems and adding further content following the full release. Console updates may occasionally arrive behind the PC version because patches must pass each platform holder’s review process.

Starsand Island is available digitally now on Steam, Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical PS5 and Switch 2 editions are scheduled to follow on 12 November 2026.
