Apex Legends’ Catastrophic Glitch

One of the worst glitches in Apex Legends history has struck, leaving many players devastated as it has completely wiped out years’ worth of progress and earned content from their accounts.

In the wake of the latest April update, numerous reports have flooded in from players who signed in only to find all their unlocked items, stat records, ranked progress, and other crucial data completely reset.

The origins of this game-breaking glitch remain unclear. However, it seems to have surfaced following the rollout of the new season split and April Fool’s patch for the popular battle royale shooter.

Some players also reported seeing an errant message stating “cross-progression is here” when logging in, even though that feature had already been implemented months prior.

This has led to speculation that the glitch may be related to the cross-progression system in some way.

Regardless of the root cause, the effects have proven catastrophic for those affected. Apart from losing all their unlocked cosmetics, weapon skins, legend skins and even heirloom items some had spent money on, players’ level progress has been fully reset.

Ranked stats showing current and previous split ranks have been wiped completely. The in-game store also malfunctioned for a portion of users caught in the glitch.

Respawn’s Response to Account Reset Crisis

In the face of this escalating crisis, Respawn Entertainment has responded by urging all Apex players to avoid logging into the game for the time being to prevent further account resets and data loss.

The developers acknowledged the issue on Twitter, stating:

“We’ve rolled out an update to address this issue. Any account logging in now will not experience any lost progress or content.”

However, for those who had already signed in and suffered resets, Respawn stated:

“For players who are missing progress or content after our update this morning – please hang tight for now. We’re working on an additional fix to restore your accounts to their state before our update, and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready.”

The reassurance has done little to quell the growing anger and frustration among the Apex Legends community.

Many aired grievances about recent problems like a tournament plagued by hackers and employee layoffs at the studio.

Complaints about the game’s overall lack of polish and litany of persisting bugs have reached a boiling point. This is even after the recently released Shadow Society Event that went down well within the community.

Respawn’s prompt acknowledgement is appreciated, but players are understandably impatient as they await news on restoring potentially hundreds of hours of progression undone in an instant.

Regaining footing and rebuilding player trust will be an immense challenge in the aftermath of such a devastating error.

For now, fans can only “hang tight” and hope a solution comes swiftly before more accounts are caught up in the reset purgatory.

The developers’ actions in the coming days will speak volumes about their ability to truly stabilise and support the battle royale experience their community deserves.
