Bungie has pulled back the curtain on the forthcoming set of alterations to weaponry for Destiny 2’s imminent Season 21, in which a selection of Exotic firearms are set for a reshuffle. Unlike the most recent tweak, which cast its gaze towards player versus player adjustments during the existing season, this round of updates zeroes in on the player versus environment aspects.

In the wake of Destiny 2’s Lightfall DLC, Bungie undertook a raft of balancing endeavours, yet post-launch, certain tweaks were still called for. The mid-season adjustment that was deployed addressed a host of significant updates to weapons, recalibrated various artefact and armour modifications, and improved other areas of the gameplay experience. In tandem, Bungie had signalled an intention to overhaul a range of Exotic firearms and modify the aim reticles when hip-firing guns, a topic that the most recent blog post delves into with greater detail.

A Spotlight on Specific Exotic Weapon Changes

The blog post kicks off by addressing the shifts in reticle functionality. The aim reticles for Destiny 2’s Fusion Rifles, Hand Cannons, Sidearms, and Trace Rifles have undergone a transformation, designed to offer “enhanced visibility at higher FOV, while still accurately depicting the weapon’s current status.” Alongside this, Fusion Rifle and Sword reticles will incorporate charge meters beneath them, and Bungie has plans to introduce further alterations in this vein down the line. Additionally, certain Exotic firearms will be equipped with custom reticles, with the Shayura’s Wrath SMG being the testing ground for a new reticle design.

Looking at specific Exotic weapon adjustments, an impressive roster of 17 firearms are set for a substantial overhaul. Many players are buzzing with the prospect that this could breathe new life into often-overlooked weaponry. For example, the Graviton Lance will receive a boost in its fire rate, leaping from 257 to 300 RPM, with a decreased delay between bursts, and the first shot will now inflict greater body and critical damage. Tommy’s Matchbook will now apply Scorch stacks to victims of continuous fire, enabling players to set their opponents ablaze. In other news, the Heartshadow, Destiny 2’s Duality dungeon Exotic Sword, is on track for a buff, and the Eyes of Tomorrow Rocket Launcher will serve as a more effective tool for clearing ads thanks to the forthcoming changes.

In addition to this, Bungie has also made modifications to certain weapon perks in Destiny 2, with Reconstruction, Fragile Focus, and Shoot to Loot becoming more lucrative. The future roadmap also includes the overhaul of Swords, Sparrows, and a redesign of the interaction between weapon zoom and damage falloff.

Destiny 2 is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PS4 and PS5.
