Fans of Assassin’s Creed have reasons to rejoice as Ubisoft plans to reintroduce a beloved feature from yesteryears: outfit dyeing. This addition to Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a throwback to the Ezio-era games, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, both of which emerged more than ten years ago.

A Blast from the Past: Outfit Dyeing in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Throughout the Assassin’s Creed series, players have witnessed the evolution of character cosmetics as the narrative unfolded across different historical periods. A significant aspect that sets older titles apart is the absence of a season pass system which would typically allow gamers to unlock additional character skins and other aesthetic enhancements.

In the case of AC 2 and Brotherhood, Ubisoft implemented an outfit dyeing function, an element which quickly found favour among fans. This well-liked feature, however, was missing from subsequent releases, until now, as it’s set for a revival in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Customising Basim: Outfit Progression in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

The official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account recently tweeted a video heralding the comeback of the outfit dyeing feature. It offered a sneak peek at the diverse palette of colours players can use to customise their gaming experience.

Moreover, a behind-the-scenes video revealed how Basim, Mirage’s main character, would have different costumes corresponding to his training phases. For example, he would be seen in white during his novice phase, eventually earning the red sash upon becoming a master.

Developers have confirmed that this sash is the same one Basim was seen with in Valhalla. For those of you who love additional content, we’ve got the full details on the deluxe edition of the game here.

Assassin's Creed Mirage New Feature Outfit Dyeing

Ubisoft isn’t just stopping at outfit dyeing; they’re also reintroducing other popular aspects from older games in the franchise. For example, players will have the option to use a blue-grey colour scheme similar to Assassin’s Creed 1, sparking a bit of early game nostalgia. Furthermore, Mirage will reinstate social stealth, a popular feature from the Ezio saga, allowing Basim to blend in by bribing specific factions.

Ubisoft is also enhancing Mirage’s combat system with several exciting updates. For instance, Basim will be able to execute Chain Assassinations, reminiscent of the Splinter Cell Blacklist game. Several new stealth gadgets are being introduced to help Basim perform unique assassinations or escape challenging situations. The parry mechanics have also been redefined, making it easier for players to stagger and defeat enemies with a perfectly timed parry.
