Mortal Kombat 1’s Full Roster Reportedly Leaks Online

A reported Mortal Kombat 1 roster leak has revealed Reiko and Nitara among the game’s Main Fighters after a player claimed to obtain the Nintendo Switch version ahead of release.

Reddit user rearisen posted images apparently showing Mortal Kombat 1’s Main Fighter and Kameo Fighter select screens from an early physical copy of the game. The original Reddit post was marked for spoilers and subsequently removed, but discussion around the images identified both Reiko and Nitara among the previously unrevealed characters.

The leaked Main Fighter screen appears to contain 23 named characters and one additional blank slot.

That detail is particularly interesting because story director Dominic Cianciolo had previously said Mortal Kombat 1 contained 24 characters, although his wording did not explicitly define that number as the launch roster.

At the time of the leak, most of the visible Fighters had already been officially announced. General Shao and Sindel, for example, joined the confirmed Main Fighter roster through the Gamescom Rulers of Outworld trailer in August.

Reiko and Nitara are the notable additions because neither had received a full official character reveal when the images began circulating.

Nitara appears on the Main Fighter select screen, rather than the Kameo roster. Her inclusion would mark her first playable appearance in a main Mortal Kombat game since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Reiko also appears among the Main Fighters after previously featuring in Mortal Kombat 1 promotional material without receiving a dedicated gameplay reveal.

The leak should still be treated as unconfirmed until NetherRealm Studios formally identifies the remaining characters. However, the accompanying Nintendo Switch footage and select-screen images make this substantially different from an anonymous roster rumour.

Shang Tsung had already been announced as a pre-order Fighter.

The important detail is that these 23 named Fighters do not account for the additional blank position visible on the character-select screen. The leak therefore does not conclusively identify a 24th character despite appearing to expose almost the entire roster.

I think that blank slot is more interesting than simply counting the known Fighters. It leaves the earlier 24-character comment unresolved rather than proving that every launch character has now been identified.

Leaked Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighter Roster

The separate Kameo screen reportedly shows:

These characters belong to Mortal Kombat 1’s separate Kameo Fighter system, allowing a support character to assist the selected Main Fighter during combat.

Several characters therefore appear in both systems. Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Kung Lao have Main Fighter versions while separate Kameo versions also appear on the support roster.

The leaked screens do not, by themselves, establish that these Kameos are characters Liu Kang has recruited from different timelines. They show gameplay selections rather than explaining their canonical relationship with Mortal Kombat 1’s story.

For now, Reiko and Nitara remain the biggest apparent Main Fighter revelations, while the unexplained final slot leaves one part of Mortal Kombat 1’s roster unanswered.
