Capcom has officially confirmed the hotly anticipated Separate Ways DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake will arrive next week, finally adding more of the iconic content fans have been longing for since launch. Take a look at the trailer showcasing both the DLC and VR2 details below.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways And VR2 Trailer
The Resident Evil 4 remake hit shelves earlier this year in a slightly content-light state compared to previous versions. While expanded in parts, it came without fan favourite mode Mercenaries, cut a boss, and lacked the Assignment Ada and Separate Ways DLC missions.
Since release, Capcom brought Mercenaries back through a patch but kept quiet on Ada’s side adventures, concerning fans. But this week, the developer delighted players by announcing Separate Ways is still on the way for the RE4 remake after all. Even better, it’s coming sooner than expected next week on September 21st 2023.
Like the original, Separate Ways will follow secret agent Ada Wong’s perspective, unfolding concurrently alongside Leon’s campaign. This provides valuable new context on the events of the horror title and reveals what Ada was up to behind-the-scenes whilst Leon battled the Ganados and Los Illuminados cult.
Given the remake tweaked the main story a touch, it will be intriguing to see if any changes carry over to Ada’s experience too when Separate Ways launches next week.
The DLC announcement came during the latest PlayStation State of Play stream, where Capcom also provided an update on the Resident Evil 4 remake’s VR mode. Whilst still without a firm launch date, VR support is now slated to arrive at some point this winter.
VR Mode Still on Track for Winter Release

Finally, a free content update for Mercenaries will accompany Separate Ways on the 21st, adding series favourites Ada Wong and Albert Wesker as playable characters. This brings the mode’s roster up to 6, with the dastardly duo joining Leon, Luis Sera, Jack Krauser and HUNK. It remains to be seen if more updates are planned.

With Ada’s campaign incoming, VR support still on the horizon, and Mercenaries expanding, Capcom is clearly committed to enhancing the Resident Evil 4 remake well beyond its original scope. Fans can look forward to even more content drops fleshing out this critically acclaimed return to Leon Kennedy’s most iconic mission when Separate Ways releases on the 21st of September.
For fans of the survival horror series eagerly awaiting more bonus modes and DLC, Ada’s long-awaited side story finally surfaces next week, providing valuable new context on the remake’s events.
