NetherRealm is finally ready to show off Mortal Kombat 1 DLC fighter Quan Chi in action based on recent creative director Ed Boon announcements. The gameplay trailer unveiling the sorcerer’s moveset will arrive during Brazil’s Comic Con Experience convention on December 3rd.

Key Highlights:

  • Mortal Kombat 1 Quan Chi gameplay trailer featuring his attacks to debut at CCXP 2023.
  • Currently second announced Kombat Pack 1 character after Omni-Man.
  • Quan Chi’s last fully playable appearance was in Mortal Kombat X (2015).

After months of speculation following his original Kombat Pack confirmation, Mortal Kombat 1 co-creator Ed Boon tweeted footage officially confirming when fans can expect Quan Chi’s DLC showcase.

CCXP Panel Brings New Details

A short clip displays Quan Chi facing rival Shang Tsung with the text “CCXP should be fun” underlying Brazilian convention Comic Con Experience happening December 1st through 4th. The official website even confirms that Mr Boon will be a special guest at the event.

Boon’s post heavily implies NetherRealm will leverage their presentation slot on December 3rd to finally reveal Quan Chi’s gameplay trailer. This likely features his various attacks, fatalities, and canonical intro/outro scenes against opponents.

So hardcore fans of the fighting series must mark Sunday on their calendars to catch first glimpses of the sorcerer in action on the updated engine.

Returning Villain Playability

Mortal Kombat 1 players witnessed Quan Chi aiding main baddies Shang Tsung and Kano during the new story mode. But his brief summoned creature assisted battles left fans clamouring for his fully fleshed out wizard Arsenal.

First appearing in the influential Mortal Kombat 4 as Sub-Zero mythology explored the Lin Kuei clan origins, Quan Chi’s Necromancy attacks stands out from the traditional martial arts movesets dominating the series.

His last playable appearance came eight years ago in MKX prior to his demise at vengeful ninja spectre Scorpion’s hands to conclude that game’s central arc.

Kombat Pack 1 Rolls On

The sorcerer represents the second confirmed Kombat Pack 1 character following October’s Omni-Man from Invincible’s debut bringing the Viltrumite’s globe traversing power stomp and laser vision to arena battles.

Two other named unlockables join Quan Chi in the DLC roster including The Boys anti-hero Peacemaker and Superman parody Homelander. Their reveals likely follow next year dependent on current development timelines.

Additional surprise fighters may well compliment those known names as developers continue honouring the past while innovating into unforeseen directions against stiff genre competition. Quan Chi’s stability manipulating fight variations and sorcery will bring back nostalgia for the brutal Beat ‘Em Up.

Who can forgot the deadly alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in classics like MKDA and MK Deception, where the two sorcerers teamed up to take out the whole roster.

So veteran kombatants anticipate the return of MK4 nostalgia when the warlock arrives armed amplified eldritch variations soon enough. In the meantime, their appetites get teased by Boon’s calculated CCXP news pending the unrestrained gameplay exhibition.
