Peter Griffin and Iconic Characters Coming in Fortnite Crossovers

The official trailer for Fortnite’s highly anticipated Chapter 5 Season 1 has been released by Epic ahead of the Big Bang event set for this weekend. The cinematic trailer confirms some major crossover skins joining the Battle Pass, with Family Guy’s Peter Griffin and Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake being clearly shown.

Eager fans also spotted a subtle Easter egg suggesting a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration in the works.

The Peter Griffin skin is particularly interesting, as it depicts him in fit shape from the Family Guy episode “He’s Too Sexy for His Fat.” Presumably this leaner/bulkier version was chosen to avoid hitbox issues that would have arisen from his standard overweight design. Although Epic did release Penny a few seasons back who is by far the most overweight skin in the game by a mile.

The Solid Snake skin shows the iconic stealth operative performing one of his signature popping out of a box moves, locked and loaded for action. This is great timing for a collab considering the MGS Master Collection is due out soon and also there’s a Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater remake in the works too.

These two crossover skins had been heavily rumoured for some time, so many players are excited to have the speculations confirmed.

The Ninja Turtles easter egg also lines up with previous leaks indicating a partnership with the beloved franchise. As crossover costumes have become major selling points for each new Battle Pass, Chapter 5 Season 1 looks to continue that trend with some fan favourite characters.

Gameplay Enhancements and New Features

Beyond the crossover reveals, the launch trailer also showcases a plethora of gameplay enhancements and new features that will dramatically expand Chapter 5 Season 1. These long requested additions aim to make matches more dynamic and allow for more diverse playstyles.

One of the biggest reveals is the introduction of weapon modifications, allowing attachments like scopes and muzzles to be equipped. Similar to the Gunsmith system in Call of Duty, this will enable deep customisation of weapons to suit different combat scenarios. The trailer shows various rifles with attachments next to them, so fans are already discussing potentially the best loadouts moving forward.

Brand new movement abilities will also give players more options in traversal and arena battles. Wall running finally makes its debut, permitting rapid ascents and flanks that longtime fans have waited years for. Mantling speeds have also been increased for vaulting over obstacles smoothly during engagements. And a new climb system will let users scramble up almost any sheer surface for additional mobility.

Other subtle quality of life changes involve being able to use shield potions on the move instead of having to stand still. Players can now replenish their shields mid-fight or while rotating between zones. Creative builders will also appreciate the addition of a prop disguise system akin to prop hunt. This brings fun stealth and ambush potential.

Vehicles, Grapple Blades and More

Veteran Fortnite enthusiasts will be thrilled to discover the introduction of drivable vehicles coming to the island, including flashy Lamborghinis. Traversing and rotations will surely evolve thanks to cars and trucks. But even more intriguing is the reveal of the Grapple Blade, essentially a hybrid between the Grappler item and Lightsabers. Players can utilise this mythic weapon to zip themselves across the map or spin in circles damaging nearby opponents.

Lastly, a moving train packed with loot is also coming as a new point of interest and combat arena. Squads can storm the cars and battle it out for the sweet rewards held within. Between new weapons like the Grapple Blade and enhanced traversal like wall running, fights aboard the train will be intense and frantic.
