To celebrate this apex of competition, the developers introduced the limited-time Capcom Cup Supporter Fighting Pass. Available starting January 5th, it lets players show their eSports spirit through unique cosmetic rewards.

The pass contains free and premium tracks totalling 50 reward tiers. These include avatar outfits, titles, frames, emotes, music tracks, and the valuable Fighter Coin currency. An in-game event will also grant access to Street Fighter 2’s original World Warrior roster.

A quick video preview highlighted the pass’s rainbow-coloured cosmetics fitting the Capcom Cup theme. The avatar outfits appear heavily inspired by professional gaming attire.

Standout items include a jersey-like coat, trainers/sneakers, baseball cap, and headphones. Collecting the full ensemble allows players to mimic the look of an eSports athlete. Other rewards help customise profiles and the Battle Hub area.

While some expected themed alternate costumes, the pass focuses entirely on avatar and social customisation. Players can still show their competitive spirit through their in-game avatar.

Unlocking Street Fighter 2 for a Limited Time

In addition to cosmetics, Capcom Cup Supporter Pass owners can unlock Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. This classic 1992 entry remains iconic and established the fighting genre.

Through a special in-game event, players will be able to play the original World Warrior matches in the Battle Hub area. As a nod to authentic arcade experiences, mirror matches aren’t allowed.

This offers a fun way for modern players to revisit Beat ‘Em Up’s roots and experience the gameplay that spawned a competitive phenomenon. However, it will likely only remain playable temporarily during the Capcom Cup X period.

Supporting the eSports Scene From Afar

Curiously, the Fighting Pass itself does not directly contribute to Capcom Cup X’s prize pool or operating costs. Some other games with eSports tie-ins directly convert pass purchases into tournament funding.

While the pass doesn’t financially support Capcom Cup, it still builds community excitement leading up to the February grand finals. Rewards incentivise players to show appreciation for competitive Street Fighter and its top athletes.

The Supporter Fighting Pass lets the wider Street Fighter 6 audience feel more connected to the tournament spectacle, even if only watching online. Unlocking nostalgic SFII also reminds players how far the scene has come since the early days.

This culminates years of fierce qualifying matches across regions to crown the world’s greatest SF6 warrior. As the competition reaches its climax, in-game activities help unite the full SF6 community around the historic finals that will define Beat ‘Em Up game greatness.
