Escape From Tarkov Gears Up for Highly Anticipated 1.0 Release
The popular extraction shooter Escape From Tarkov is preparing for its long-awaited 1.0 release, as revealed by game director Nikita Buyanov in a recent interview with streamer Pestily.
While the game has remained in a beta state since 2016, Buyanov has provided insight into the developer’s plans to transition the title to a full release.
The focus for Escape From Tarkov in 2024 will be on preparing the game for its 1.0 launch, including the addition of a storyline that will allow players to actually “escape from Tarkov.”
Wipes and Prestige: Progression Systems Post 1.0
This narrative-driven content is set to be a key part of the full release. Buyanov also confirmed that regular wipes will continue even after the 1.0 launch, with a prestige system being implemented to carry over progression from one wipe to the next.
In terms of the game’s map structure, the final map, Terminal, will be connected to at least one other map, though Buyanov emphasised that the game will not feature an open-world design like that of the competing title, “Grey Zone Warfare.”
Additionally, the development team is planning a graphical overhaul that will be tested before the 1.0 release, along with addressing various issues currently affecting the game.
One of the highlights of the upcoming 1.0 release is the introduction of multiple story-driven endings, allowing players to experience different outcomes to the game’s narrative.
This narrative-focused approach is part of Buyanov’s vision to provide a more complete and polished experience for Escape From Tarkov players.
The developer recently revealed a gigantic ban wave that resulted in the removing of over 11,000 cheaters.
Scheduled for a 2026 Release Date
While an exact release date for the 1.0 update has not been revealed, Buyanov has indicated that the full launch is not expected until at least 2026.
This extended development timeline allows the team to focus on preparing the game for its transition from a beta to a fully released title.
The 1.0 release will bring a host of significant changes to the FPS, including the addition of a new faction, downloadable content, hideout expansions, a PMC Karma system, and cosmetic-only microtransactions.
The game will also introduce clans, alliances, and an API to facilitate the development of third-party apps and tools.
As Escape From Tarkov continues its journey towards a full release, players can look forward to a more refined and feature-rich experience, with the developer’s commitment to polishing the game taking priority over rapid updates in the immediate future.
