Fallout London Release Date Delayed

Key Highlights:

  • Highly anticipated Fallout: London mod delayed indefinitely due to Fallout 4’s next-gen update, set for April 25.
  • Delay aims to avoid issues caused by update’s impact on mods using Fallout 4 Script Extender.
  • Fallout: London’s complex UI and dialogue systems would be affected, necessitating smoother launch timing.
  • Next-gen update promises performance enhancements but risks mod compatibility issues.
  • No specific new release date for the future.

The highly anticipated Fallout: London mod has faced an unexpected delay, as the development team has decided to push back the original April 23rd release date.

This decision was made via a newly uploaded YouTube video in response to the upcoming Fallout 4 next-gen update, scheduled to launch on April 25th.

Technical Challenges and Complex Systems: Reasons Behind the Delay

The Fallout: London team explained that the next-gen update for Fallout 4 has the potential to break many mods, particularly those that rely on the Script Extender.

As Fallout: London utilises complex UI and dialogue systems that are dependent on the Script Extender, the team felt it was better to delay the release rather than risk frustrating players with a launch that could be plagued by technical issues.

While the next-gen update is expected to provide performance improvements that would ultimately benefit the London mod, the development team wants to ensure a smooth and stable launch for their ambitious modification.

They have not provided a specific new release date, stating that the issues could be fixed in a day, a week, or even a month, as they work to address the challenges posed by the Fallout 4 update.

One additional challenge for Fallout: London is the mod’s large file size, which is estimated to be between 30 to 40GB.

Due to this, the team has confirmed that the mod will not be hosted on the popular Nexus Mods platform, but rather on the GOG platform, for players who own Fallout 4 on PC.

Team FOLON, the creators behind the ambitious mod have been on a high recently, as they had set their hopes on launching a game studio of their own. The joy that they must have been feeling with everything falling into place and massive hype surrounding the London version, it seems sad that they have to face a big set-back like this.

The delay of the London mod comes at a time when the franchise is experiencing a renewed surge in popularity, thanks in part to the success of the Fallout TV series.

This resurgence has brought in new and returning fans, who are eager to explore the post-apocalyptic world of the beloved game series. Plus Fallout 76 just launched the America’s Playground Update after the introduction of Atlantic City.

While the wait for the London version may be extended, the development team’s decision to prioritise a stable and polished launch is likely to be appreciated by the dedicated fanbase.
