The game, developed by industry veterans with experience on titles like Halo, Call of Duty, and Destiny, is set to launch on August 23rd for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Gain Rewards just for Beta Participation

Players participating in the open beta, which ends today on July 21st, will receive two exclusive rewards when the FPS launches, a “Lil’ Frog” weapon charm and a “Star Flare” Business Card.

These items serve as proof of beta participation and can be displayed in-game.

However, the beta’s reception appears to be mixed. On Steam, the PC version of the beta has struggled to attract players, peaking at just 2,388 concurrent users according to SteamDB.

This stands in stark contrast to similar games like Overwatch 2, which recently peaked at over 50,000 concurrent players on Steam.

This new title is basically going to try and be Overwatch 2’s biggest competitor, and has clearly taken inspiration from the long-running FPS.

It’s worth noting that these numbers only reflect the PC player base, and PlayStation 5 data is not available. The game’s performance on console platforms remains unknown.

Despite the low PC numbers, Firewalk Studios has continued to add content to the beta. A sixth game mode, Signal Chase, was recently introduced, challenging teams to identify and control specific areas on the map.

Concord faces several challenges as it approaches its launch in the next few days. With a £34.99/$40 price tag and stiff competition in the live service and hero shooter genres, the game needs to differentiate itself.

While its sci-fi setting and aesthetic draw comparisons to Guardians of the Galaxy, some observers suggest that showcasing more of the title’s unique identity could help attract players.

The developer plans to release weekly cinematic vignettes to flesh out the game’s lore, similar to successful strategies employed by games like the previously mentioned Overwatch.

Though, there are suggestions that releasing some of this content earlier could generate more interest in the lead-up to launch.

As the beta period comes to a close, all eyes will be on Concord to see if it can overcome its initial hurdles and carve out a place for itself in the competitive hero-shooter market.

Stay tuned for more news on this fascinating title in the coming weeks.
