In a move that’s sure to delight fans of classic platformers, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has made its way onto Xbox Game Pass.
This collection, which includes remastered versions of the first three Crash Bandicoot games, is now available to subscribers on PC, Xbox consoles, and via cloud gaming.
The N. Sane Trilogy, originally released in 2017, features updated versions of Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
Developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision, the collection has been a commercial success, recently surpassing 20 million units sold seven years after its initial release.
This addition to Game Pass is particularly noteworthy as it marks only the second Activision title to join the service since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October.
It’s seen as a harbinger of more Activision content coming to the platform, with fans eagerly anticipating the day-one release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Game Pass later this year.
The N. Sane Trilogy isn’t just a simple port of the original games. It features revamped graphics, remastered cutscenes, updated soundtracks, and new voice-over work.
The collection also includes quality-of-life improvements such as a unified save system, checkpoints, and autosaves.
Additionally, players can enjoy both an unfinished level from the original development and a brand-new level created for this collection.
This release comes at a time of change for Xbox Game Pass. The service recently announced a price increase for its Ultimate tier, set to take effect for current subscribers in September 2024.
This has sparked discussions among gamers about the value proposition of the service, with opinions varying based on individual gaming habits and preferences.
For fans of the marsupial mascot, the addition of the N. Sane Trilogy to the popular subscription service offers a perfect opportunity to revisit these beloved classics or experience them for the first time.
With its addictive gameplay, colourful style, and fun characters, the Crash Bandicoot series continues to charm players across generations.
The recent downer that a fifth entry has been cancelled thanks to the Toys For Bob split means that the PlayStation icon might not be seen for quite a while in any new entries anyway.
As Microsoft continues to integrate Activision Blizzard’s extensive library into its ecosystem, Game Pass subscribers can likely look forward to more classic and contemporary titles joining the service in the future.
