Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker – A Steampunk Witch Awaits

The highlight of Season 13 is the Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker skin, transforming Overwatch’s iconic sniper into a steampunk-inspired witch.

As players progress through the battle pass, Widowmaker’s magical powers evolve, culminating in her fiery final form, crowned by her glowing hat at level four.

Like earlier Mythic skins such as Galactic Jester Moira, the Spellbinder skin may feature evolving special effects, where her abilities visually intensify as players progress through the tiers.

For example, her sniper shots might change colour or add magical tracers at higher levels.

Following her recent crossover as Sylvanas in Overwatch’s World of Warcraft collaboration, Widowmaker now joins Mercy and Kiriko in the game’s witch-themed roster.

Each elimination will further immerse players in her custom animations and eerie sound effects, making her one of the most immersive skins to date.

Given Blizzard’s history of adding distinct audio and visual effects to their higher-tier skins, it wouldn’t be surprising to see unique kill animations or voice lines when using the Spellbinder Widowmaker skin.

Halloween Terror Returns with Junkenstein’s Laboratory

As tradition, Halloween Terror returns from October 15th to November 4th, bringing a new co-op mode, Junkenstein’s Laboratory. This event allows players to upgrade hero abilities through cursed talent cards in chaotic PvP rounds.

Standout elements include:

  • Reinhardt’s Annihilation: Explosive power added to his charge.
  • Moira’s Doppelganger: Increased damage output via duplicated orbs.
  • Reaper’s Soul Harvest: His original healing ability from fallen enemies restored.

Based on previous seasons, this could mean some abilities may drastically change, like how Junkenstein’s Endless Mode in prior Halloween events ramped up the chaos as waves continued.

Fan favourites, such as Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride, also make a return, offering fresh challenges and terrifying new bosses in haunted locales like Adlersbrunn.

Following Blizzard’s pattern of introducing new variations of existing bosses, players could see new, reimagined versions of beloved characters in this year’s event, potentially including “undead” versions of heroes like Roadhog or Sombra, as hinted by previous boss redesigns in past Halloween Terrors.

My Hero Academia Collaboration – Heroes Clash

Starting on October 17th, Overwatch 2 will debut a My Hero Academia collaboration. Players can acquire exclusive skins, including:

  • Tracer as Deku
  • Reinhardt as All Might
  • Juno as Uravity
  • Reaper as Tomura Shigaraki
  • Kiriko as Himiko Toga

These skins will be available as part of the Mega Bundle, which includes additional cosmetics inspired by the hit anime series. This collaboration runs until October 30th.

Considering the success of previous anime collaborations, such as the Dragon Ball Z crossover with Fortnite, it’s reasonable to expect that Overwatch 2’s collaboration will appeal to a broad player base, possibly even leading to future anime-inspired crossovers if this one proves successful.

Players looking for more rewards can unlock the Overwatch 2 Premium Battle Pass, boasting 80 tiers of items. Among these rewards is the Mythic Deliverance Soldier: 76 Weapon Skin (available from November 12th), alongside new Gilded Aspects.

These Gilded Aspects could draw comparisons to skins like the Golden Weapons from the previous entries competitive mode, offering a similar prestige element for hardcore players.

These exclusive black and gold variants allow players to further customise their mythic skins, with future seasons expanding this feature to include weapons.

The battle pass also offers five festive Legendary skins, designed to complement the Halloween theme:

  • Bog Witch Ana
  • Necrotic Witch Junker Queen
  • Witchbane Sojourn
  • Gnome Torbjorn
  • Monstrous Sigma

Season 13: Spellbinder brings a spellbinding mix of horror, heroism, and witchcraft.

Whether players are upgrading Widowmaker’s enchanting powers, facing the terror of Junkenstein’s Laboratory, or battling with their favourite My Hero Academia heroes, Overwatch 2’s latest season promises thrills at every turn.
