Aspyr has unveiled comprehensive details about Photo Mode, a returning feature in Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.

This enhanced collection, launching 14th February, brings Lara Croft’s classic adventures to modern platforms with significant visual and gameplay improvements.

Revealed in the latest PlayStation blog entry, the enhanced Photo Mode serves as a core feature, allowing players to capture iconic moments across Tomb Raider The Last RevelationChronicles, and The Angel of Darkness.

Whether scaling the Great Pyramid of Giza or investigating the shadowy streets of Paris, this feature enables players to document their archaeological expedition with unprecedented detail.

  1. Pose Enhancements
    • Expanded from earlier remasters, players can now select dynamic action poses, including climbing, stealth stances, and gun-ready combat positions.
    • Lara’s pose transitions are fluid, mirroring her actual animations from gameplay for a more lifelike aesthetic.
  2. Dynamic Environment Interaction
    • Players can freeze moments that showcase interactive objects, such as the puzzles and artefacts central to the narrative.
    • Environmental animations, like shifting sands in Egypt or dimming neon lights in Paris, can be toggled in Photo Mode to create stunning atmospheric shots.
  3. New Customisation Options
    • Expression Editor: Includes a range of facial animations such as determination, surprise, and curiosity, reflecting Lara’s personality.
    • Outfit Library: Pulls costumes from across the series, including fan-favourites like the Chronicles trench coat and Angel of Darkness biker outfit.
    • Lighting Presets: Introduces filters such as “Egyptian Glow,” “Parisian Noir,” and “Ruins Twilight” to match the mood of specific locales.
  4. Social Integration
    • Instant sharing features allow screenshots to be uploaded directly to social media platforms from within the game. Players can also tag specific locations using metadata tied to the in-game map.

The development team has implemented an intuitive control scheme, activated by pressing both analogue sticks on the DualSense controller.

This seamless integration allows players to capture spontaneous moments without disrupting gameplay flow.

Beyond Photo Mode, the remastered collection introduces new collectible achievements and art badges, alongside enhanced versions of iconic adversaries including the Bronze Bull and Minotaur from The Last Revelation.

Earlier this year saw the arrival of the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Collection, which was extremely successful and a big hit with fans.

A little after release, the trilogy collection received native 4K resolution and an upgrade to 120 FPS on the PS5 version. So the developers may decide to go for this at launch but we’ll have to wait and see.
