Key Highlights:

  • Sony has increased the PlayStation Store wishlist limit beyond the previous cap of 100 games.
  • Reports indicate the new cap allows up to 188 games, improving the user experience.
  • Some PlayStation users still hope for further expansions or even an unlimited wishlist.

Sony has made a subtle yet impactful change to the PlayStation Store by increasing the wishlist capacity, addressing a long-standing limitation that has frustrated many users.

The PlayStation Store functions as the primary digital marketplace for PlayStation consoles, offering a vast selection of first-party and third-party games.

With frequent sales and new game additions, the wishlist feature plays a crucial role in helping players track games they want to purchase.

However, the previous 100-item cap often led to inconveniences, especially for those who regularly browse the store for discounts or upcoming releases.

Recent reports from ResetEra users indicate that Sony has now raised this limit. One user confirmed being able to add 188 items, effectively nearly doubling the previous maximum.

This change provides significant relief for gamers who had to manually manage their wishlists, frequently removing titles to make room for new ones.

With an expanded limit, PlayStation users can now track a broader range of games without constantly pruning their lists.

Despite the improvement, some PlayStation users still believe the cap is restrictive. With the ever-growing library of games on the PlayStation Store, some players argue that an even higher limit—or ideally, an unlimited wishlist—would be a more effective solution.

Many gamers use the wishlist strategically, saving multiple versions of the same game to compare discounts during sales events.

This approach allows them to maximise savings, but it also means they reach the wishlist cap more quickly.

The wishlist expansion arrives at a time when the PlayStation Store is seeing a surge in activity.

The ongoing Spring Sale, running until April 23rd, offers discounts of up to 75% on various PS5 and PS4 titles.

This event further emphasises the value of an expanded wishlist, as players can now store more potential purchases and track their favourite deals with greater ease.

Xbox-Owned Titles Gaining Traction on the PlayStation Store

Interestingly, this change coincides with notable shifts in the PlayStation Store’s best-selling charts.

Xbox-owned titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5 are currently topping the pre-order charts.

Additionally, Doom: The Dark Ages ranks highly, reflecting strong interest in these franchises among PlayStation players.

With Microsoft increasingly bringing its games to PlayStation, an expanded wishlist helps facilitate greater consumer engagement with these cross-platform releases.

While the increased wishlist limit is a welcome update, there remains room for further enhancements to the PlayStation Store.

Sony has been steadily refining its digital storefront, but compared to platforms like Steam, some users feel that PlayStation’s marketplace still imposes unnecessary restrictions.

The wishlist cap, even at 188 items, suggests that Sony still enforces limits that may not align with modern digital storefront practices.

Nonetheless, this move indicates a positive trend in Sony’s approach to user experience. If demand continues, it would not be surprising to see further refinements to the wishlist system, possibly leading to the removal of the cap entirely.
