Key Highlights:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer and Zombies modes are free to access from May 30 to June 3.
- Season 4 introduces new maps and game modes, alongside deep discounts on major platforms.
Activision and Treyarch have temporarily lifted the paywall on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, making its Multiplayer and Zombies components free-to-play from 30 May through 3 June.
This limited access aligns with the launch of Season 4 and offers players a chance to explore its latest features without committing to a purchase.
Players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC can now dive into team-based multiplayer or undead survival without owning the full game.
The campaign mode, however, remains locked behind a paywall.
Steam and PlayStation Store listings confirm that the promotion is accompanied by a 45% discount on the standard edition of the game, pricing it at £38.49/$38.49. On Xbox, while the base game holds its usual price, the premium Vault Edition is discounted to £64.99/$64.99.
These offers coincide with Microsoft’s “Free Play Days” initiative, but Xbox Live or Game Pass subscriptions are not required to access Black Ops 6 during the trial.
Season 4 introduces three new multiplayer maps and a fresh game mode, Team Elimination, aimed at tightening team strategy and pace.
While there’s no new Zombies map in this update, the current free trial grants access to all previously released Zombies content, ensuring new players aren’t locked out of the broader experience.
Although some balance changes in Season 4 have sparked debate among the player base, the influx of new content and temporary free access aims to re-engage lapsed players and draw in newcomers.
Given that COD Black Ops 6 is likely midway through its expected content cycle, speculation has already shifted toward the next entry in the series.
Early industry rumours suggest Call of Duty 2025 may serve as a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, potentially reviving one of the most critically celebrated narratives in the franchise. Though, these claims remain unconfirmed.
Activision has historically used mid-cycle free periods to boost engagement and sales.
This window not only showcases the current state of Black Ops 6 but also sets the stage for renewed community momentum leading into the latter half of the game’s lifecycle.
Microsoft’s Free Play Days campaign also features several other notable titles:
- The Division 2 (Ubisoft) – Free until June 3rd
- Ark: Survival Ascended – Free until June 1st (Game Pass required)
- Football Manager 2024 – Free until June 1st (Game Pass required)
- Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game – Free until June 1st (Game Pass required)
Whether players are revisiting COD or exploring new genres, the current lineup offers broad appeal heading into the weekend.
