Key Highlights:

  • Asmongold joins Kick with no exclusive deal, embracing multistreaming.
  • Collaboration with Elon Musk’s X aims to shape future livestreaming infrastructure.
  • Signals a shift in content creator power away from platform exclusivity.

Twitch veteran Asmongold is reshaping the livestreaming landscape.

Without a headline-making contract or exclusivity clause, he has joined Kick’s Partner Program and announced a collaboration with Elon Musk’s X platform, moves that signal a deeper industry shift away from walled gardens and towards creator-controlled ecosystems.

Kick Partnership: No Strings Attached

Unlike past headline deals such as xQc’s reported $100 million agreement or Nickmercs’ non-exclusive $10 million arrangement — Asmongold’s move to Kick came without a major financial transaction.

According to Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani, Asmongold simply enrolled in the platform’s Partner Program and began multistreaming the next day.

For Asmongold, the appeal lies in autonomy. He continues to stream on Twitch while simulcasting to Kick, retaining full access to his 3.6 million followers.

His core message is clear: creative freedom matters more than exclusivity.

This aligns with his earlier stance from 2023, where he declined platform offers that limited distribution.

Back then, he stressed that his goal was to maintain flexibility and avoid locking himself into restrictive agreements.

Why Not YouTube? The DMCA Dilemma

Although YouTube Gaming has courted numerous streamers, Asmongold cited the platform’s aggressive DMCA takedown system as incompatible with his streaming style.

Live content that incorporates copyrighted material — including background music, trailers, and spontaneous internet content, is often penalised on YouTube, limiting spontaneity and content variety. Kick’s leniency provides the headroom he needs.

The X Factor: Livestreaming with Elon Musk

In parallel with his Kick expansion, Asmongold has opened a dialogue with Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter).

He announced plans to begin multistreaming on X starting June 2nd, noting that his contribution will focus more on shaping infrastructure than harvesting viewership.

In a recent stream, he explained his intent to offer livestreaming feedback directly to X’s development team.

“I’d just do it for free,” he told viewers, believing that the improvements would benefit both streamers and audiences long-term.

Elon Musk personally acknowledged the offer, responding:

“Ok, let’s give it a shot.”

Rather than migrating entirely to X, Asmongold is leveraging the platform as a testing ground.

He’s already evaluated multistreaming software and is preparing to submit a technical plan to X staff, with the goal of improving livestream performance, discoverability, and community interaction.

Historically, streaming platforms have vied for market share through exclusive partnerships, locking creators into individual ecosystems.

Asmongold’s actions, choosing open-ended collaboration over rigid contracts — highlight a growing trend: top-tier creators are pushing back against exclusivity in favour of reach, resilience, and control.

Kick, X, and even YouTube stand to benefit from this shift if they adapt to creators’ demands for flexibility.

Esports, too, may feel the ripple effects. As players and analysts follow streamers across platforms, cross-network visibility could become standard.

In the long term, multistreaming could neutralise platform power, making audience connection and not corporate deals – the main currency of livestreaming success.

Asmongold’s full multistream rollout begins June 2 across Twitch, Kick, and X.

He has promised more details soon, including the launch of a dedicated website to unify his efforts.

While metrics and monetisation models will take time to develop, the larger transformation is already underway: creators are reclaiming their distribution and platforms are racing to keep up.
