Key Highlights:

  • Silent Hill 1 Remake has reportedly been in development for three years.
  • Bloober Team is handling the project with a 2027 release target.
  • Konami is planning yearly Silent Hill releases through 2028.

A remake of the original Silent Hill is now confirmed to be deep in development, with credible industry sources suggesting that the game has been in production for around three years.

The project, led by Bloober Team in partnership with Konami, is reportedly scheduled for release in 2027, continuing the publisher’s phased revival of the iconic horror franchise.

The details were shared by reliable insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, who has previously leaked accurate Silent Hill information. According to his latest comments, the current roadmap for Konami’s SH titles is as follows: Silent Hill f in 2025Silent Hill: Townfall in 2026, and Silent Hill 1 Remake in 2027. An internally developed Silent Hill project is also being lined up for 2028.

Given the fact that the title has just been announced to be in current development, and a reputable leaker who has more than enough credit in the bank, this 2 year window seems to be legit. This gives the developers 2 whole years to work on the project, so we can expect something pretty special when it arrives.

This timeline marks a major strategic shift from Konami, which had left the series dormant for years before announcing multiple projects in 2022 and 2023.

Notably, Silent Hill 2 Remake served as a reintroduction to the brand, earning commercial success and reviving interest in classic entries. That project also marked Bloober Team’s first hands-on collaboration with the IP.

Konami has now confirmed that the Polish studio is returning for the Silent Hill 1 remake, signalling a growing partnership between the two companies.

While no specific details about platforms or gameplay changes have been revealed, fans can expect Bloober Team to follow a similar approach to its previous remake work: faithful core mechanics modernised with updated visuals, expanded audio design, and refined narrative delivery.

The original Silent Hill, released in 1999 on the original Sony PlayStation, focused on Harry Mason’s desperate search for his missing daughter Cheryl in the fog-laden town. Its reliance on psychological horror, ambient tension, and vulnerability – rather than combat – helped define the genre at the time.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno recently commented on the continued collaboration with Konami, saying that the partnership has led to high production standards and more ambitious creative output.

While both studios have remained tight-lipped about the Silent Hill 1 remake’s specific scope, internal comments suggest that the project is intended to preserve the tone of the original while modernising systems for a contemporary audience.

There should also be an extended lifespan like there was with the SH2 Remake.

Discussions within Bloober Team also indicate openness to expanding their role within the Silent Hill franchise beyond just remakes. Creative Director Wojciech Piejko stated the team is willing to pursue either reinterpretations of other classics or brand-new entries, depending on the opportunity and timing.

Just this week we’ve seen Pinhead return with Hellraiser Revival announced and horror icon Jason Voorhees will also be back with a new Friday The 13th Game confirmed.

With Silent Hill f and Townfall already in the pipeline, and a steady rollout plan through 2028, Konami appears committed to re-establishing the brand as a dominant force in horror gaming.
