Dying Light 2 Update 1.24 Transforms Stamina System for Smoother Parkour

Key Highlights:

  • Dying Light 2’s new Stamina Patch (Update 1.24) overhauls traversal by removing stamina costs from most parkour actions.
  • Techland is positioning stamina primarily as a combat-focused resource, while keeping exploration smooth and uninterrupted.
  • Alongside stamina reworks, the patch delivers bug fixes, optimisations, and tweaks to Tower Raid and co-op systems.

Techland has pushed out one of the most impactful gameplay updates Dying Light 2: Stay Human has seen since launch. Labelled the Stamina Patch, Update 1.24 fundamentally shifts how traversal and combat balance out, with parkour now essentially freed from the limits of stamina management.

As someone who’s spent hundreds of hours in both Dying Light titles, I can confidently say this change addresses one of the most common frustrations: running out of stamina mid-escape.

In the old system, climbing a rooftop or chaining together wall runs could get cut short by a single depleted bar. That tension made sense on paper, but in practice it often broke the flow. Now, parkour actions outside of Dash and Dart no longer drain stamina, allowing players to focus on fluid movement rather than resource juggling.

Dying Light 2’s Stamina Becomes a Combat Resource

The shift is intentional. Techland wants stamina to play a bigger role in fights, while leaving traversal feeling smooth and empowering.

Combat, paragliding, and underwater swimming will still drain stamina, and the studio has cleverly tied progression-based exceptions into the story. For example, stamina remains relevant during early missions like “Pilgrim’s Path” until players unlock an inhibitor in “Markers of Plague.” This ensures narrative consistency while still giving freedom once Villedor fully opens up.

For players like me who lean heavily on mobility to avoid wasting resources in combat, this feels like a huge win. Instead of hesitating before pulling off big parkour chains, I can now use the environment aggressively, knowing my stamina pool is reserved for fights and high-stakes encounters. It’s a design philosophy that aligns with what makes Dying Light 2 special, movement first, survival second.

More Than Just Stamina Changes

Beyond stamina tweaks, Update 1.24 delivers optimisations, bug fixes, and refinements across the board. Tower Raid mode sees several fixes, from bounty counters to visual glitches with outfits.

Co-op play has been cleaned up, addressing unclear error messages and UI inconsistencies. Even small but noticeable details like flashlight behaviour during dialogue sequences have been adjusted, all in service of immersion.

It’s not a flashy content drop, but it’s one of those updates that refines the game’s health and makes the overall experience more reliable. For a title that thrives on moment-to-moment flow, these adjustments matter. There’s not been a real focus on the combat like this since the 1.10.0 patch a couple of years back.
