Key Highlights:
- Capcom unveils new artwork to mark Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary.
- Resident Evil Requiem launches February 2026, just ahead of the milestone.
- A dedicated anniversary website teases further celebrations and surprises.
Resident Evil is entering its 30th year in 2026, and Capcom is wasting no time setting the stage. A brand-new anniversary website has launched, alongside a striking piece of commemorative artwork that gathers together the series’ most iconic protagonists.
The artwork embraces an Art Nouveau aesthetic, with Leon S Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, and newcomer Grace Ashcroft each seated on ornate thrones. Behind them loom their most memorable adversaries: Nemesis, Mr. X, and the Licker, among others.
Long-time fans will notice the characters mirror their modern remake appearances, yet their designs have been given a stylish high-fashion twist, layered with gold accents and filigree. I’ve seen Capcom experiment with stylised key art before, but this feels like one of the boldest reinterpretations of the cast yet – it’s the kind of piece you could easily imagine on a collector’s wall rather than just a promotional asset.

Beyond the visuals, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will arrive on 27th February 2026, just weeks before the anniversary itself.
Early hands-on impressions from Gamescom suggest Requiem has struck the right balance between modern survival horror mechanics and the series’ roots, which is no small feat.
As someone who’s played through every mainline entry, I can tell you that this tightrope walk, staying true to the old while modernising enough to keep new players hooked, has always been the franchise’s greatest challenge. RE Requiem looks like it might finally nail that balance.
The anniversary site itself is sparse for now, with only teaser logos and a “Coming Soon” tag. One logo frames the infamous Umbrella insignia in an archway, while another cheekily shows a raccoon wearing 30th-anniversary shades, a nice nod to Raccoon City’s enduring legacy.
Given how Capcom usually builds up to big milestones, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more announcements drip-fed in the coming months. Many fans are still calling for long-awaited remakes of Resident Evil 0 or Code: Veronica, and the timing feels perfect for such reveals.
Meanwhile, Capcom’s own figures show Resident Evil remains one of its most powerful brands, with half of its top ten best-selling titles belonging to the series. The Resident Evil 2 remake continues to lead the charge in sales, cementing its status as one of the strongest horror reimaginings ever released.
Speaking of RE2, there’s even been a one off game in Namco Funscape Romford, UK called Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot, which is an arcade lightgun shooter only available in England.
With Resident Evil Survival Unit set for 2025 and Requiem closing in on early 2026, fans are guaranteed plenty of survival horror content as the anniversary approaches. But make no mistake, Capcom has more in store.
The anniversary may not officially kick off until March 2026, yet the build-up has already begun, and if history is anything to go by, the surprises will be worth the wait.
